January 3, 20215 yr Autogen sliders in V4 and V5 do not show the same amount of objects. V5 shows more with the same settings. Years people have complained about P3D being cpu dependent only and that the GPU’s had little to do. With each release LM ported over extra calculations to the GPU. And now with DX12 the GPU has become even more important. The difference between my former 2080/2080Ti and my current 3090s is enormous looking at the framerate. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

But how do you feel about PBR changes, sloped runways, truesky quality and water? Marcus Regards, Marcus P.
January 3, 20215 yr Maybe it's simply because the folks at LM are far more interested in flight simulation than they are in eye-candy. I'd really hate to see them start wasting more time and money on "junk" that has nothing to do with flying an airplane. And don't even start with all that "immersion" stuff. End of rant........... You must be pretty disappointed then, because LM has made barely any changes to the core "flight simulation" aspect, be it flight dynamics, avionics, weather, etc. All of that is left to third party devs.
January 3, 20215 yr I agree with Gerard and Rob on almost every point. But the rest of you are also right that LM needs to continue to clean up issues with these P3d5 improvements. STs can be made to look pretty good without the ST SDK just by editing the deciduous tree textures to make them a darker green. Once done the trees look just as good as those in DCS World and MSFS and a heck of a lot better than the planar trees in XP11. The P3d5 implementation of trueSky does not compare with atmospherics in MSFS, but at least the weather in P3d5 is correct. XP11 is not even close to having immersive weather. The complaints about DX12 are related to hardware capabilities and IQ settings as Rob said, so that's not LM's problem either. The PBR looks nice in P3d5 and despite what people wrote in this thread, it is fairly easy to make an airport with a sloped runway in ADE. And the water issue in small ponds in rivers is annoying but is that really a big issue? All in all P3d5 is solid and has good performance. It loads reasonably quickly from the desktop unlike MSFS. Its VR implementation is weak, but other than VR with the HP Reverb G2 in MSFS, the rest of the VR implementations in flightsims are not worth the trouble, despite what the VR zealots say.

And, for me, there are no FPS issues. I do very little urban flying and out in the suburban/rural areas the framerate is always in the 45-75 range. (And that's with all the sliders maxxed.) P.S. And, 30 FPS is always enough. That's why I lock the framerate there. January 3, 20215 yr LM needs a complete remake of the night lighting and night textures. What they have implemented is so old and the sim looks really bad at night. Edited January 3, 20215 yr by B777ER Eric

That is why I use something like xEnviro which completely overwrite X-Plane weather system with its own weather system. Not perfect but at least better than that built in weather system. Let's see that Austin will deliver in XP12 as he was promising a 'next-gen' sim in the prodcast and let's see as well if he and his team will implement these top voted features for his next gen sim https://feedback.x-plane.com/# AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display

Right now I'm dealing with a bug where lights don't show up at arrival airports. This sim is bad, bad, bad. I don't know if MSFS is the answer but I hope eventually it provides an alternate platform for the add-ons I use.
