The TBM 930 is an Amazing Aircraft

Featured Replies

It took a new control interface to get this aircraft operable for me, but now that it's running, I absolutely love it! (both the aircraft and the G3000 are the modded versions)

I don't know how this matches up to the real world, but on this 936 NM trip at FL 280:

  • 3 Adults and 40 lbs.of baggage
  • 281 gal. fuel (1883 lbs.) for :45 reserve
  • Averaged 323 kt TAS and 325 kt GS
  • I had some crosswinds that ran from 52 - 77 kt
  • On one leg with a quartering front crosswind at 71 kt my TAS dropped to 311 kt

Quite a machine!

It is a 4 million dollar airplane

http://www.tbm.aero/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/2018_TBM-930-Specs-price-list.pdf

that costs $1100 an hour to operate

https://www.aircraftcostcalculator.com/AircraftOperatingCosts/680/Socata+TBM+930+#:~:text=Based on 450 annual owner,down to %241%2C106.70 per hour.

It really should be "Quite a machine" at that price  😄

What did you go with for controls? I have not bonded much with the TBM. Love it in principle, but if I want to fly IFR and fast I always go with the WT CJ4. Low and slow it is something small with a prop. How long did that 936NM trip take? Where to where?

I love the TBM.  It's my primary flying machine right now (hehehe).  It gets plenty of time shuttling cargo and executives all over the eastern US in OnAIr.

What aircraft mod? The giant turn into the initial approach fix that isn't shown on the GPS is super annoying. Its starting to actually work better but the "activate approach" doesn't really do what its supposed to do even in the WT 3000

TBM is one if not my favorite planes in MSFS. I can't wait until VNAV is fully implemented and the flight plan features to not show those annoying "USR", "USER" waypoints.

It’s a great plane and all, but we really need a community mod for THIS!?!

I was simply flying KBDL - KPWM post my wife serving coffee and really could have used this!? 😉

Well, hopefully not at the price they charge for the real one ...

My FSX Hondajet has that...  It also can be used as a "rumble seat"!

If you do exit your flight plan, then do a Direct To to your destination airport, THEN activate your approach, seems to work fine for me always, be it RNAV, VOR DME, ILS.

Columbus, OH to Opa Locka, FL.  Took a little over 3 hours.  I normally wouldn't take that long of a sim trip, but I did it in honor of our team that is playing in Miami in the NCAA footfall national championship there.  Opa Locka is the closest to the stadium.

I upgraded to the Thrustmaster T.16000M/TWCS.  This not only gave me a much better stick, but resolved an issue I had been having with my old stick and the rather unique reverse-thrust and feathering system of the TBM.

Epic uses the same PT6a-67a as the Beech Starship .  😄

Most of the numbers (including the all important cost per hour) are more or less in the same ballpark for the Epic and the TBM. Slight advantage in favour of the Epic in most cases.

Biggest advantage is it is half the price of the TBM.

Interesting.  I hadn't heard of the Epic so I checked it out.  Looks like it has tremendous climb capability.  Top speed is about the same though the TBM has more range and larger payload capacity (but it matters which models are being compared)  Looks like the Epic is about 1/2 a Mil cheaper?  Looks like a great challenger to the TBM's niche!
