That is surely another way of using the buttons.  I assume you have 3 hands when flying, one for the stick, one for the throttles, and one more for the mouse.

Sure, just like when flying a real acft I must have had three hands...one for the stick/yoke, one for the throttles, and one to work all the switches, buttons, levers, and knobs, etc.  C'mon now...you actually do have to take your hand off the throttles to do other things.

You are referring to Airbus stick IRL? It doesn't seem have "hat" switch, or I'm missing something?

No, I'm referring to flying acft other than the 'bus, as the quoted text indicated.  The Scarebus auto-trims, hence it doesn't need or have a trim switch.  But if your sim is not a one-trick pony with just the Scarebus, you'll need trim buttons for the others.

..........Thrustmaster T.16000M, with a different, Airbus-style handle and without the distracting disco lighting at the stick base....

I own this one, and the first day I took the bottom of and cut the wires to the base stick lightning.

It is indeed distracting and useless

I have had the sidestick for a few weeks now.  It is a great stick with a very smooth response (best joystick I have ever had in that regard), but I have an intermittent problem with the hat switch.

I have assigned left and right hat to quick-view left and right respectively.  However, occasionally (about 1 time in 10) the left hat doesn't respond no matter how many times I click it.  If it doesn't, I now find I can flick to right hat, then immediately back to left hat, and it works.

It's as if the left hat movement freezes until I move it somewhere else first.  I have reinstalled the drivers and redone the assignment a couple of times in the control settings.  It feels more like a software thing than a hardware problem with the hat switch.  Weird.  I am just tolerating it for now.

That's mine, too, I guess and I see some axis "irritation" with spikes despite idle. Deadzone helps but I guess it just served well and should be replaced, also looking into the TCA, pricing very volatile these days

I love my TCA Sidestick Airbus, i mounted it with the TM Flying Clamp,
so i can use it left from me or right or in the middle, depends what aircraft i use.
I mainly fly GA and for that price the stick is fantastic.

Ps. I don't use the Z axis twist, i disabled it, never liked the feeling while flying.

Having the same issue. Had to disable the axis as it was spiking a lot even without actually using it (using pedals). Otherwise a nice and smooth stick.

It is fixable, but it takes some fiddling around. It isn't caused by any defective part, it's just everything being so crammed together inside. Looks like they were thrown together quite hastily in my opinion. I think I took it apart and put it back together 3 times before I sort of fixed it 😂

I've also removed the button/pin which locks the twist action which seems to have helped, weirdly.

Do you assign left hat to quick view left?  And if so, does it ever fail to respond?  I am wondering if I have a problem with mine.

I have that one and like it alright. However, the throttle has that middle detent which I absolutely hate. Also, the throttle moves very "loosely".

i have to test this, i think it works ok for me (never had a failed response) but i am not sure, because i fly most time in VR and dont use the quick view left or any hat, but will do the test tonight.

Maybe other player with the TCA Sidestick Airbus can test this too.

Yes, mine was flopping about all over the place at the end.  I would be on final approach and it would fall full forward! 😀

Ultimately, after 7 or 8 years good service, mine kept disconnecting and reconnecting every few seconds through the USB port and was unusable.
Just at the wrong time unfortunately, as joysticks are either out of stock or very expensive at the moment.  I was surprised to find the sidestick on amazon for about £65.
For a replacement T. flight HOTAS, one company wanted about £160! Crazy money! 😕

Thabks for all the feedback guys, it's been very helpful (and interestingly mixed).  Is there anything you would consider better without paying silly money?  My budget is circa UK£150 ish. Ideally, something sturdy, well made and likely to last few years.

A decent stick can make a huge difference just like a nice leather steering wheel and gear knob on your car can make a lower end model feel so much better.
