Been noticing an awful lot that, unless I’ve previously specified a landing runway myself, ATC will direct me to use any old runway irrespective of wind direction. I’ve lost count of the times that I’ve made ultra-fast, downwind landings. Or looked across at a fully inflated windsock blowing at 90 degrees different to my heading. Sometimes, if I really don’t want to crash, I will ignore their directives, and place myself into wind. Other times, I will obey their misguided orders, and fight my way down. Just wondered if this was a general thing that needs fixing, or is the problem at my end somehow? It does ruin the immersion a bit when nearly every flight culminates in either a battle with the wind, or a flagrant disregard for flight rules. Even old FSX did that pretty well. My only plausible explanation is the current ATC is flat out on the back burner for a major revision and I understand that is already scheduled I want to say maybe April. I have to assume they know full well where it needs work, it's just tabled for the moment. I was surprised to see this in FS2020 as I thought this was a total new build of the sim. I guess some things are legacy in this sim as well. I hope this old issue get's addressed because it's long overdue. Fsx gave you vectors from one side of the world to the other and took you down to land with what acted like a vocal ILS, I didn't even need to look at the GPS or ILS. March 9, 20215 yr I've also noticed that ATC will land me with a tailwind, but then after I clear I hear other planes being cleared for takeoff on the same runway going the opposite direction.
