CaptainSim releases Boeing 777-200ER for MSFS!

Well, to be fair, you have to know a $30 triple-seven is going to be junk from the word go.  There is no way you can do it right for that amount of money, unless you're a freeware maker (see:  FlyByWire) doing it, well, just because.  And it shows.  I wouldn't want it if it were free.  And generally speaking, if it's free, it's for me!!!

Please, don't tell us you're stopping your video reviews because your opinion is not relevant to what others are personally liking or not

NB: this is just a tease to break this side discussion about the flight model, not a personal attack at all.

Well, even reviews offer a personal choice, we can choose to check them out or not as we see fit. There are some youtubers we subscribe to, and some we don't, and it would be a very boring world if we all thought the same thing and liked the same things, although of course anyone who doesn't like cheese on toast should be avoided. 🤣

What is it with this thread and digressions into discussing food ? 🙂

It's great to see the passion here, but sad to see some of the hate and venom over something that is optional to buy.   It's not like 'low rent' aircraft haven't been released before for other sims.

I actually think MSFS can become all things to all types of flight simmers (apart from the real hard-core P3D or Xplane users who will probably never accept it).

You can use MSFS exactly as you want, from flying stuff like the Aerosoft CRJ and FBW A320, to flying a rubber dingy with a propeller strapped to the back, like I did the other day - Great fun!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

At any rate, like I said...  I'm not sure if you were just playing devil's advocate here or not, but thank you for sharing your own logical reasoning on the matter.   That's all I ask for.  We don't all have to agree -- we never will -- but we should all be expected to have put thought into our opinions if we want them to be taken seriously.

This was hands down the most eloquent response to a comment I've ever recieved. Hats off to you and I do, in fact, completely agree.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

I'm so dissapointed in Captain Sim.  I just don't know why they would release this.

The Bredok3d737 is...of questionable quality, but this is from a developer with some great products.

I hope they lock this soon? Every time one of these is released, and I hope there will be many. All it is gonna be is an argument. Wait till the 2D cockpit comes freeware or payware, OMG it will be epic 🙂

I don't get the hate for Asobo/MS after a release like this and opening the argument that it is a game or will never be a true sim because study level was not available from day one from developers. People seem to forget the early days of FSX, some developers were porting over their FS9 versions with maybe a few goodies but not taking full advantage of new FSX features. Oh and some of those addons whether free updates or money grabs were broke within a year once SP1&SP2 were released and had to be patched again. The jump from FS9 to FSX was big at the time but tiny compared to FSX/P3D to MSFS. (if it can even be compared)

Regarding a cash grab (in the opinion of some) payware like the CS 777. Flight Sim is bigger and even more popular than ever before. It's no longer a niche market of aviation fans and old fogies. It's bringing in ALOT of newbies and causal simmers alike and some developers are taking advantage of that. In the end if it brings new people to the hobby, that is great. I'm sure if we went far enough back in time we could find video of everyone on this very forum (possibly sporting mullets?) taking off from Meigs Field in the Learjet, flying through the Chicago skyline like Will Smith flying an F-18 through the grand canyon in Independence Day.

So in the meantime while MSFS matures, go back to your sim that utilizes 1 of your 16 CPU cores... At least MSFS can't hurt you there.

When you downloaded the 777, did you have an EXE or a zip?

I saw a video of a guy who bought it and he had a zip file with a sound improvement folder. I have absolutely none of that, weird?

One of the reasons I haven't bought it just yet is I thought it used default 747 sounds. BUT I heard it came with custom sounds in a separate file like you described. Did you check the CS forums for more info? Let us know what you find once installed 🙂

Yeap, but i didn't find anything. I installed but nothing only EXE 😞 i'll tell you if there's any news.

Did you look in folders (possibly a captainsim folder) where it is installed?

Has anyone even truly delved in to the flight dynamics to see if they even attempted to make it fly like a true 777, or just copy pasted the 747 flight model also and wiped their hands clean.

Does any one know the answer to the above? It's crucial to me at least. ie is it a 777 with 747 screens or is it a 747 with a 777 shell? Weights? Range? Performance? Fuel capacity? Flight dynamics? Etc etc etc.
