There seems to be plenty of people that are willing to eat a decent sand-free burger in the meantime while the new restaurant’s chef comes up to speed. That's not a good analogy because it misses out the important fact that the devs told you exactly what they were selling up front.

Generally speaking if you do type such a query into Google, an Avsim forum topic is one of the first hits you get. Whether that means they'll join is another matter. As I've said before, Avsim should probably have a dedicated youtube channel to increase their presence on the intertron. I think it'd be a good place to stick reviews and previews etc. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

I think it'd be a good place to stick reviews and previews etc. well in a way that is true, but remember that a lot of new users will also be using things like reddit and other places to talk about MSFS2020 in this generation, and frankly, AVSIM has an aweful reputation on some of these other sites... I know very little of the history of AVSIM and I enjoy my time here even though I hate the phrase study level and I consider myself a gamer (ducks), but it should be realised that even though it crops up in Google searches, many may not use it because of information on other sites 🙂 A few quotes for example from various places talking about msfs2020 recently... They act like spending more money makes you superior in some way and shame others for not using "study-level" airliners which they still complain about. If you are about to release anything for MSFS2020 and it's not study level or free or preferably both, don't waste your time announcing it on AVSIM, it will only depress you. Their forums are a heady mix of elitism and toxic moderation. The only assets they have which actually generate traffic are the file library and the PMDG forum. These are the only things keeping Avsim alive. for want of a better word the 'anti-flightsim forum' as they represent everything that is ****** up about about simming, avoid avoid avoid unless you love PDMG. If you don't love study level airliners it's toxic, toxic, toxic. If you just want to fly and have fun.. don't go to AVSIM unless you are prepared to discuss in detail the fraction of a millimeter that a dial is mounted off-center. Graham System specs... Well that is kind of true unfortunately, but I would hope there are many of us who are not guilty of the elitist attitude some people seem to think prevails here, although there are undeniably some who find that cap a good fit when they wear it. Personally, I champion the cheapy add-ons as much as I do the fancy ones and always have. Nevertheless, I find one could equally level a similarly dismissive opinion about some places where that misguided opinion prevails, in occupying as they sometimes do the opposite end of the spectrum, with some childish behaviour on display from time to time. So as ever, it is usually a mistake to tar everyone with one brush wherever you are. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Did they really though? This is the line from their sales page that is the crux of the whole thing IMO: Essential functionality paired with default 747 systems simulation As a new simmer is reading through all the exciting marketing hype on the page, they see this, and I believe (again my opinion) that they deduce that this means that they used "some" 747 code as we all know the commonality between Boeings, and that would be cool because they certainly would not try to sell a $30 addon that is literally a 777 shell riding on the entire, default 747...would they? I feel the word "paired" is a very deceiving word in this context as we know most devs won't (or shouldn't) replicate code on systems that are common as its a waste of time, so most would imply that "paired" would mean just that, not literally every system, including all 4 engines on a 2 engine plane showing in the ECIAS....that is pretty low IMO. I think a better...more HONEST wording would be something like: "This is our famous 777 visual model using ALL the other functions and code from the DEFAULT Asobo 747, there is absolutely no custom 777 coding for systems, avionics, etc." THAT would be a good description of EXACTLY what you're getting. But that would surely deter a lot of customers from buying it, hence the reason for the way they worded it. I can't fault them as "technically" what they say is true, but I can see unsuspecting new simmers glazing over this single line and blinded by all the pretty pics and other stuff that is perfectly accurate. I think we can look at this as a $30 introduction in the world of CS customer support (because they WILL be going there to figure out things like no sounds, strange artifacts as certain viewing angles, etc) and will be in for quite a lesson if they try to convince CS what they should to to improve this "model" (if they don't get banned before they have a chance to express their views on the matter) Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here
