Correct me if I'm wrong, but are we not expecting a sim update next Tuesday?  From what I've read, they are going to fix the icing effect, fix the radio phraseology and a few bug fixes.  Are we expecting anything else?

I have a European radio phraseology mod installed and not sure whether I should temove that beforehand.

Is there any more news on this subject, any speculation or any guesses as to what the update might break?

At least, it seems that there is some beta testing going on.

 Hard to say to which extent each issue will be tackled as they stretched many over several Sim updates. Besides icing and radio phraseology we should see

• Garmin G1000/G3000 & Autopilot Related Issues | Several Releases| Sim Update 4,5,6   
•  Live Weather and Wind Readings Not Accurate | Several |  Sim Update 4,5,6 😡🥵🙏  
• Turboprop Engine Logic Issues | Several Releases| Sim Update 4,5,6  
• LOD Problems – Trees, Water | Several Releases | Sim Update 4,6 
• Approach Flyback Bug | Started | SU 4 
• Tree Density | Several Releases | Sim Update 4,6 

Considering the 1.15.10 update and the "fix" for Live Weather, that actually made it worse for me and resulted in Live weather now  "stuck" for many days (it's still from May17th.) I fear the worst.....(but still have hope)

I am sorry to say that beta-testers are not what they used to be. They don't leak anymore 😆 !

No, you don't have to remove the mod. The moded file will be overwritten anyway.

This is probably the most interesting and relevant question / thread at the moment.  I.e., what comes next...

So yes, I am expecting the update at around 16:00 GMT on Tuesday, with the Twitch stream / Q&A on Wednesday to follow.

As Tom_L says, I would expect all of that, plus a fix for the 50% throttle bug, and maybe a few things extra thrown in to surprise us (hopefully not bugs ).

I think the 'beta testing' is good, but a few things still slipped through last time (sounds like they prevented some other major issues though) and because Asobo have so many streams of the sim in development, I am not entirely sure the version the 'beta testers' test is 100% the version that we get in the end. 😀

Still.  It is exciting one way or the other, and I am prepared to understand the odd bug creeping in if we get general improvement in the right direction each time.

You can always argue over improvement or bug fix priorities, because they tend to be fairly selfish personal preferences (such as people wanting VR etc. while others will never touch it), but my preference is for them to fix ground handling first before they work on turboprop behaviour (as the ground handling in response to wind is affecting ALL aircraft).  And then the scenery morphing and disrupted coastlines.

As for the trees, I would expect a slider that gives us x2 the distance we currently have.  And as for the ATC, they have said it will comply with FAA phraseology, so us Europeans well still need our mod!

Exactly.  Hocus Pocus.  See how many of them extend through SU 6?  So what expectation does that create for 4 & 5.  For me?  No expectation.  Whoops.  Let me back up.  I believe some earlier projections were missed, like four months ago or so some of these were to be fixed perhaps in 2 & 3.  And now????

Conventional wisdom based on experience with other mods and MSFS updates is remove it before the update and then if still needed reposition it afterwards.  Is that mod a Community folder item?  Are you not using the MSFS Addons Linker.  Makes it silly easy.

Supposedly, the 300 beta testers last time actually found some critical bugs and Asobo patched them before those bugs made it to the final release.

The problem is, I don't know if 300 beta testers is enough.  More beta testers are needed - this is why many of us are asking Asobo to have an "opt in" beta where anybody can opt into the beta testing.

I was not a part of the beta testing team last patch but I am assuming that some of the bugs like the multiplayer livery bug, or the throttle bug after you press "Esc," were picked up by a few beta testers, but not enough of them picked up the bug to make enough noise for Asobo to fix it.  If there are more beta testers though, it will be easier to find such bugs and then maybe enough of them can make enough noise about the bug.

TLDR: More beta testers = better for MSFS releases

Live weather , LOD issues and Tree Density are the ones I am waiting for.

And I hope they will fix those bumpy runways.

I totally Agree.  As long as the opt-in had a roll-back option in case it all goes completely boobs up!  😀

A process such as the Xplane dual or side-by-side installations (stable and beta) would be good.  Maybe the MSFS beta testers have this system?  I don't know as I have never been one.

Nope, it's not in the community folder.  It's a little program that can sit anywhere and you point it to the sim in a dialogue box.  It changes the phrases and keeps a backup, so if you run it again it restores the backup.

I think I will use it to revert the sim to stock, then delete it as I guess it won't be compatible with the update.
