May 22, 20215 yr The tutorials are certainly in-depth and thorough. Rob’s calm voice is guiding you step by step through all the stages, with a bit of humor to spice things up. He’s not only telling what to do and in which order, but also WHY things are done a certain way, and giving troubleshooting advice if say an engine won’t start properly. I don’t think there’s any other developer out there with such an in-depth approach. Not that I’m familiar with anyway. I used their 737NG extensively in FSX. I really like that they have an automated option for those not wanting to go through all the 12 pages of pre-engine start checks. I’d say the future for MSFS indeed looks very bright 😎 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
May 22, 20215 yr Not to mention we'll be getting the same treatment (so it seems) with the 737 and 777 this year. THIS YEAR. I am absolutely thrilled to see the future of MSFS. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
May 22, 20215 yr So far, MSFS has been good and kind with my old jalopy. I can fly smoothly in most of the world with my favorite aircraft. The PMDG DC-6 will be the first test to see whether more complex aircraft addons can also be flown without taxing too much older rigs 😏. The day of building of a new computer is still in an uncertain but not near future. If the DC-6 is less complex than the CRJ, then I don't see how it's a test of how complex aircraft add ons work in MSFS, given the that CRJ is more complex. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

Running four Double WASP à la PMDG might be a little more taxing than the Spit' or Corsair engines 😉, the job done by MV or FI being, lets face it, rather coarse. I like the two aircraft, fly them most of the time, but honestly I expect better in the MFS future. Steam gauges being more fluid than glass looks like now an obsolete paradigm. Asobo graphic engine seems to do an excellent job with glass. The day of building of a new computer is still in an uncertain but not near future. FWIW I am using an ancient 6700K with a 1080Ti. I have been looking for a 3090 since Black Friday without success. So far I have been very happy with the Six's performance. BTW there will be lot's of glass forthcoming... but for me the enchantment of this aeroplane lies in manipulating a hugely complex mechanical creation with the assistance of the back side of a used envelope. I refuse to use a GPS and instead rely on the dual VORs, ADFs and DMEs to plot my position and course. For Children of Magenta, no doubt this is a frightening thought. I do believe, there are others who will relish the opportunity. PMDG, being PMDG has thoughtfully included the GPS and AFE for those less inclined to work themselves into a froth. Of course, this results in the added benefit of an easier transition to type. My fondest hope, is that once familiar with flows from the AFE, and after gaining experience in the aircraft, pilots will try to use the AFE less and less, and thus fully explore the intricacies of moving a heavy Douglas creation across continents. Complying with departure or arrival flows at a busy airport AND manually manipulating this beauty, will result in a sense of accomplishment that few modern aircraft can rival. There are times, I land at Heathrow or Atlanta and actually just sit and sip on some Darjeeling, because I need a moment of respite. She's terribly endearing...
