At 10% the speed of light, the time dilation is only about 0.5%.
2.5 / 1.005 = 2.48 [million years]
Not 50 years by any stretch 😉 You must be confusing with some constant acceleration.

Pascal

👍 Thanks for the correction.  With extreme regret,  I will abandon my latest project in my shed.

P.S: It would require a constant acceleration of 0.55G to make it to Andromeda in 50 years. (deceleration included)

Don Lincoln from Fermilab has made a couple of nice  You Tube on relativity (Lorentz,  time dilation length contraction etc.) like this one.

I think aliens came decades ago and offered advanced medical knowledge, which would have cured all illnesses worldwide...

...but the government, pharmaceutical industries, as well as other greedy interested parties banded together to put the kibosh on such knowledge and imprisoned the aliens at Area 51. 🎬

Seriously? Nah, I don't think you're serious.

We all know they're demons.

Maybe we're the demons and they are making sure we don't get out.  Beware the Mars Mission.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Au contraire mon ami! I just finished a four volume treatise on this very conspiracy. The sci-fi author has impeccable credentials.  🤪

Von Neuman probes perhaps. Could well be.

As soon as we advance to that  level of technology for interstellar probes, we will be doing the same

If they're anything like us he may be right.

At least, we can learn from this video's comments that the "only" intelligent specie we know doesn't like to be called insignificant. 😄

Definitely, and Birdguy is busted: he commented without looking at the video. 🤣

Many times I will not look at a video or comment on a video, only on a remark that might be a statement about a video.   I only commented on what Martin said the scientist thinks.  I didn't have to watch the video to comment on the statement.  I did not comment on the video itself.  Ergo, no bust.

Don't take my joke too seriously, I was in a facetious* mood after reading your comment, considering that "he" is the most gorgeous scientist woman I've ever seen ! 😄

Pascal

*beware, I'm still in the mood 😉
