Is the performance boost rolled out ?

I have never had so great smooth and texture loading at 25HZ before.

No, I don't believe so. I think it'll be part of SU5 coming July 27th.

Thanks , i just had my absolute best VFR flight in 10 years of flight simming  , from ENTC to ENEV and then to ENNK using the C172 and todays weather.

I just couldnt believe what i saw. UTC 08.00

3K and somehow INCREASING settings made this even better?

? i am still out of words,

Tried out ORBX Paris also and high resolution 3K or  above and not a single digit below 25 HZ and so smooth :-)

My EVGA GTX1080TI FTW3 was around 6-10GB VRAM and 40-60% use with real time weather

Michael,

What CPU are you running?

I'm considering buying a used 1080Ti, but not sure it would do much for me over my 1070, considering I'm running a 6700K.

As you have an older CPU, you have probably unloaded it by pushing up the graphics settings. This is a know effect, and it is the best way to balance the settings between the CPU and GPU is to push the GPU usage up close to 100%.

Even an old 1080Ti will do this.  I have one, and consistently get a solid 30fps at 4k scaled to 70%.  4k at 80% is possible outside of major cities.
My GPU utilisation is around 90% and everything is smooth.  If it hits 100% I get stuttering, so I bring the scaling down from 4k at 80%, to 70%.

Just out of interest, what do you mean by '3k'.  Can you give the pixel count?  For example, 4k is 3840 x 2160.

Thanks alot , Strange that increasing settings gives better performance but that is something to live with 😃.

My Resolution is 1920x1080P upscaled to 140 (cant remember exactly the numbers) might try out 160 ?

Thanks

For mine (1080Ti) 2880 pixels wide seems to be the sweet spot, which would be 150 scaling for you.  This should be good for all but the biggest cities.

I have a 4k monitor, so unless I am flying over London etc. I set 4k at 75% which gives me 2880 width and a good consistent and smooth frame rate (30 fps)  I do have a newer CPU at 5.1 Ghz, so that may give me some difference, but you should get close to this.

For this, my 1080Ti is very slightly overclocked (using the automatic tuner in the graphics card software) and I have to set 75% from the user config file, as there is no position for it on the slider in game (only 70 or 80%).

You should be able to get somewhere near this and optimise it.  If not, you know you only have to pull it back slightly on settings to get your previous performance.

One thing to try that really works for me is to lock vsync at 30 inside the sim.  They altered the way MSFS pages the graphics to the screen recently, and it makes it seem really smooth with this setting.  It might be worth a try also.

I think you will be able to lock at a nice smooth 30 fps in all conditions after the performance update on the 27th of July.

Michael, that's great, and as someone who is also enjoying MSFS to the max despite some glitches here and there, I am with you. But be prepared to be told that what you are seeing can't possibly be that good with your system/settings/etc, and that you just don't know enough to realize this. I reported recently in another thread about flights I had reported as perfectly smooth with my FPS locked at 30. I was informed that I was mistaken; the flights could not really have been that smooth at 30 FPS and that I really need to get to 60. Eh? "Perfectly smooth" can be improved on? Anyway, just be prepared to hear the same stuff. It's coming! Part of life in the FS forums.

The answer to any question of this nature will always be ... "two weeks" ... not from any specific date mind you , just 2 weeks .

Mine is old news but this conference from July 1 shows the new improvements coming (supposedly). Start at 3:00, notice Sebastian's very modest system specs. He flies twice first without the improvements, then with them .

Even though fps above 35 may not be noticeable in so called blind tests, It's really only true if that is all that is improved. But 2nd trip at about 55+ fps instead of 35 it looks much better. Smoother. It seems to me that the cpu/gpu system is able to do everything it wants to do in the allotted time during each frame, and so it looks smoother.

Promises of better thinks in about 3 weeks.

Are you still banging on about that?  Why turn a positive thread into a negative one?

Nobody has said anything of the sort about Michael's experience.  I have a similar spec and I can vouch for his 30 fps smooth in most circumstances at those settings.  60 fps with our spec and decent settings is beyond reach.

I would like 60fps though as the landscape scrolling at low level can be a bit jerky when scrolling past on a wide monitor, and that part would be better at 60 fps.  But look, nobody can ever, ever force you to try 60 fps if you don't want to... ever!  You are safe.

Happy with that?  Or do you just want to be a victim to some people's different opinions?

Sorry, but no, that's not what happened.

What really happened is that I wrote about how I hoped for stable 60 FPS on my system after the update and you then barged into the thread, outright stating that 30 FPS "generally gives superior performance", and dismissing people who play at higher FPS as being driven by their male ego. Then you caught some disagreement on that.

You can read it all again here:

Actually my extremely smooth VSYNC experience is at 25HZ/25FPS 😉 as stated.

I going to use MSFS for VFR only so far with this old PC so a boost later on given me 30HZ/FPS is just a bonus
