July 23, 20214 yr "The i9 12900K put in a score of 11,632, which isn’t far off week’s guesstimate of 11,300. That’s very nearly double the 6,419 achieved by the preceding i9 11900K Rocket Lake flagship, while being the 11th fastest CPU tested, only falling behind Xeon, Epyc, and Threadripper processors." https://www.pcgamesn.com/intel/i9-12900k-benchmark-vs-rocket-lake
July 23, 20214 yr Interesting. I noticed the 12700K vs the 11700K there wasn’t as drastic a rise as the aforementioned comparison. Definitely something to keep an eye on. Follow me on : Instagram See my Trailer: A Year Of Flight
July 23, 20214 yr Just Hope the 1000 Dollar plus price tag is just a place marker. That and a 4090 should be a good 5 grand sim build 🤑. Edited July 23, 20214 yr by G-RFRY Raymond Fry.

July 23, 20214 yr Author Something else to read re 12900K. It's an interesting new CPU design. "The Intel Core i9-12900K will be the flagship chip in the 12th Gen Alder Lake Desktop CPU lineup. It will feature 8 Golden Cove cores and 8 Gracemont cores for a total of 16 cores (8+8) and 24 threads (16+8). The P-cores (Golden Cove) will operate at a maximum boost frequency of up to 5.3 GHz with 1-2 active cores and 5.0 GHz with all-cores active while the E-cores (Gracemont) will operate at 3.90 GHz across 1-4 cores and up to 3.7 GHz when all cores are loaded. The CPU will feature 30 MB of L3 cache and TDP values are maintained at 125W (PL1) and 228W (PL2)." https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i9-12900K-benchmark-leak-puts-the-Alder-Lake-S-way-beyond-the-capabilities-of-the-AMD-Ryzen-9-5950X-while-embarrassing-the-Core-i9-11900K-and-Core-i9-10900K.551705.0.html Edited July 23, 20214 yr by martin-w

I am a master of nothing, but I am a jack of all trades. 😁 No 12900K for me, my new computer has a 10700 and that seems to be enough for FSX, should be enough for P3D and/or MSFS, should I ever decide to go that route. AMD Epyc CPUs have a flaw that exposes the Secure Processor under virtualization (guru3d.com) I doubt there is mass amounts of concern on the enterprise side after reading the last line of the article "Physical access to hardware is required". With physical access to any hardware people could do what they want in most instances anyhow. August 14, 20214 yr My AMD 3900x copes quite well with MSFS, especially after SU5 but still there is that main thread limitation. Intel usually has higher clock speeds and if Alderlake can maintain >5 ghz on all 8 cores while keeping it cool that would be a nice upgrade. I am most curious whether the power-efficient cores still function when the high-performence cores are running at full speed. If they are, they could take care of all background processes freeing up the performance cores just for the flightsim. Now thát might be a good implementation of the Game Mode in Windows.
