SU 5 Stutters

Featured Replies

  • Commercial Member

Hello all! After the SU5 update I am still getting some stutters. Yes, when i sit still in the VC I am getting a huge boost from SU4, however, as soon as I start to pan around the cockpit I get stutters. I'll even lose half of my FPS sometimes. This happens with the lasted Dev version of the FBW as well as default aircrafts. Anyone else noticing this? Thanks!

I'm not surprised...  Unfortunately, getting better FPS doesn't necessarily mean the stutters will be gone!

That's the new normal in SU5. As I mentioned before, only the scene in front of you rendered in full resolution. The left and right are low resolution and not rendered until you pan and look at them, then the scene starts to redraw and render to full resolution.

As mentioned before too, nothing is for free.

Stutter can be cause by OC for CPU. I see you are OC at 5GHZ on all cores.

So what about those of us that use VR? I'm still downloading so can't see for myself yet.

I was told to expect disappointment with the new VR rendering method.😢

I can't say much in VR.  I hear for some is better than others.  It depends on your setup.

It's on AUTO in the BIOS. Is that not good?

Yes that's what concerns me slightly, Asobo have made it clear they want to revisit VR later in the year/early next year but if they've bodged it in the meantime then I'm gonna be annoyed. Their naivety towards VR in the first place, bolting it on last minute then leaving it to rot was bad enough....!

But we get extended tree LOD and faster performance and increased FPS. 🙂

I'm gonna go ahead and abort the installation at this point.

I'll check on the sim again later when VR is given more attention.

And this:

I am okay with this design decision by Asobo though.  The performance gains are worth it for the majority of people.

What Asobo can do though is perhaps implement a toggle so that people with a monster CPU and have 64 GB of RAM, can turn on a toggle where the scenery isn't reloaded.  I probably won't use that toggle because my computer isn't that powerful, but for those with a powerful enough computer, they can turn on the toggle so that the scenery stays loaded around them, at the cost of lower FPS, higher RAM usage, and higher CPU usage.

It may be just fine, worth trying it first without jumping to too many conclusions 🙂

Agreed. We asked many time to add sliders for more powerful PC's in beta forums but that didn't happen yet.
