How does this new mouse thing work?

Featured Replies

Ok ,so I tried the new mouse interface.  I’m obviously missing something. I move the mouse over a control, like heading, it turns green, but how  do I then turn it?  I tried the scroll wheel. Right mouse click, dragging. Nutin.

im sure there’s a simple answer, so what is it?

I turned it back to legacy, but I would like to know how the new way is supposed to work.

sorry for the double post.

I think this is an Xbox thing, I turned it back to legacy.

System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I

Once highlighted, you can interact with the instrument:

If the instrument is simple (buttons, 2 positions switches), tapping Xbox Controller A or Mouse left button will interact with it.
If the instrument is complex (knobs, levers…), tapping Xbox Controller A or holding Mouse left button will lock on it.

Once locked on an instrument, you can:

Use primary (Xbox Controller A/ Mouse left button), secondary (Xbox Controller X/ Mouse right button) or tertiary (Xbox Controller Y/ Mouse middle button) interactions.

Increase/ decrease the instrument (Xbox Controller LT/ RT or Mouse wheel)

Use gestures (Xbox Controller left stick or Mouse movements)

Unlock the instrument (Xbox Controller B or release Mouse left button)

Ok I don’t have an Xbox controller. I’ll stick with legacy.

even no logical procedure: how can I HOLD the left mouse button to lock on a dial/knob and then CLICK using the left mouse button? Like trying to pull away your chair while sitting on it

My mouse is acting crazy even in legacy mode.. I have this slow panning that's uncontrollable unless i pan with the controller, but then as soon as i stop it just slowly pans around the cockpit? My mouse won't pan now or allow me to look around.. this is frustrating.

In Accessibilty, then cockpit interaction system, and select LEGACY, not LEGACY in Flight Model option tab. And mouse is again well and no more blueish.

This happened with my xbox controller connected. For now I have it disconnected, might just need to clear some assignments in the options.

General > Accessibility > Cockpit interaction system > Legacy = your mouse clicks behave like pre update

General > Accessibility > Instrument Name Tooltips > OFF = removes blueish glow on buttons

I found a fix, I also use a xbox controller. In you controllers view knob sensitivities create a very small dead zone like 5% and that should fix the drift. But now there's a white dot whenever I pan around? Anyone know how to get rid of that?

It's real great Asobo just assumes everyone is using xboxes now..

Lock mode works as such:

- Highlight a control (like a knob)
- Hold LMB to lock to that control. Now your mouse will not affect any other controls or other mouse bindings
- Move the mouse left to turn the knob left, move it right to turn the knob right (with LMB held down)
- Alternatively, use the scroll wheel while holding LMB down to turn the knob left or right
- To push a control in, lock to the control using LMB and then right click

I will try this out. I mainly use the controller for the drone cam.
