July 31, 20214 yr Since SU5 I’ve been been getting a complete shutdown.. I wish I was getting a CTD, oh no this is whole other level. I’ve even done a clean reinstall today so nothing in the community folder and I’ve not reached the main menu once… checked temps with HW monitor.. CPU an GPU both reasonable.. Is anyone else seeing the same.. No idea what to do now!

July 31, 20214 yr Author kernel error 41 critical error (The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first). Edited July 31, 20214 yr by Carts85
July 31, 20214 yr It might be completely unrelated to your problem but something similar happened to me a few weeks ago. I was word not allowed off at MSFS 2020 and decided to use X-Plane 11 until Asobo fixed their sim. And then the same thing happened in X-Plane, i.e. total computer shutdown. After a little searching, I realized the problem was caused by a defective component on my power supply. The computer ran fine until I used power hungry apps like MSFS 2020 and X-Plane. I changed the power supply and everything is fine now. I hope you find a solution to your problem soon. -- Ghislain System Specs: Ryzen 9 5900X, Gigabyte Aorus Master mobo, 32 Gb Corsair Vengeance Lpx DDR4 memory, MSI RTX 3070 Ti Gaming X Trio 8G video card.

We get this update an suddenly it’s shutting down.. Why the power draw would change that considerably I don’t know… Beyond annoying this

Why the power draw would change that considerably I don’t know… Beyond annoying this Unlikely as it seems, the timing could be completely coincidental if there is something like a power supply component failure. Do you have any other high end games that push your system that you could try, or even a recent benchmark test just to make sure the system is still stable? July 31, 20214 yr I never heard anything about a software causing pc shutdowns. 90% of chance it’s your PSU. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel
July 31, 20214 yr I doubt it's related to specifically just MSFS but more hardware related. I had a similar issue where my PC would turn off, come back on like nothing happened (Like a power outage) and all there was in the event viewer was the dreaded error 41. It was a bugger to troubleshoot but I did end up replacing the PSU with a more powerful one and that didn't resolve it. In the end it was bad memory sticks even though no errors occurred when doing mem tests. Hope you can figure it out if it does happen to you repeatedly. I’ll download Forza am not sure how demanding that is but should give me an idea on stability am guessing… What are the odds that this has happened on the back of the update though just seems too much of a coincidence given all the issues people are having.
July 31, 20214 yr Most likely either the power supply or the VRM on the mobo. Of course, check the obvious--loose power connectors, including the power cord to the PC.
