If you turn it on, you are also more likely to get shimmering, it's purely for FPS gain. I can't believe it. I turned off anisotropic filtering tonight and it seems the very bad shimmering I was getting has disappeared. It was on 4X. This was in the MSFS Graphics menu Edited August 4, 20214 yr by Bobsk8

That will reduce your visuals though, 8x or 16x is best depending on your PC. That is strange you get shimmering with it on, sounds like it is combining with some other setting to not work properly. I am not sure, just guessing. Texture Filtering is the bad guy, the one you almost always want to turn off. Edited August 4, 20214 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

Unless they fix it for us, we are bound to buy HDR screens. SDR looks awful compared to HDR, but I understand that some guys are enjoying running medium settings at 60 frames now. I think it's way premature to draw any conclusions. SU5 was the update for Xbox, not PC, period. And the game is dual platform. Since Xbox does not have a built-in display there is nothing necessary about HDR for Xbox any more than for PC. For all of these woe is us responses keep remembering this update, SU5, was really strictly for Xbox, though yes PC is dragged along kicking and screaming. So many responses here, chasing tails looking for fixes and acting like this is the final update we're going to see are just bizarre. Give it some time Asobo clearly understands fully how to make it shine on PC just look at SU4 and previous. They're undoubtedly considering how to retune for Win 10, the other platform, and at the same time where they can fully integrate them so they can play together cross-platform. How's the tone map here?
