For sure, there is always some correlation, but hard to say how much. A lot of the CTD issues in the code that are only happening to certain people, are because they worked in areas of the code they rarely touch in other builds, and everyone is using a different combination of addons and a different config. They also changed some underlying structural elements breaking compatibility in the dev environment, which in some cases wasn't actually a change to the DEV environment at all, but more a structural change under the covers that just made itself more obvious in the dev mode. August 5, 20214 yr Like I said in another thread (or was it this thread? The forum is so active at the moment I lose trace!).. It is all subjective and pretty pointless arguing over, because if the 'internet' can't decide what colour a dress is in a photo, why should everyone here agree on the graphics? Me? I preferred the SU4 graphics and environmental lighting; I don't like the new look, whether it is tolerable or not, or whether it should or shouldn't be a problem for me according to other people, I don't care. You have your view, I have mine, and we see where the arbitration ends up. (I think we already know). Also, it seems there are enough other people who don't like it, and Asobo have also put out a statement about what happened and how they intend to deal with it, so that is enough for me. Would it be tolerable if left? Well, I would probably have to get used to it if I wanted to use the sim, but I would rather it be improved or changed back as far as we can. To other people who have a different opinion and like the new look - fine! have it! (while it lasts). Edited August 5, 20214 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). My understanding is if you are CPU limited best off keeping LL to off. August 5, 20214 yr It seems the severity of the issues are affected by the location of the flight in some ways. I've been testing the update out of EGHI for a week and it's been a horrible shows of popping trees and blurry scenery. I've had a try from YRED now and there's no popping at all. The scenery is still blurry at distance and washed out but no popping. EGHI does have photogrammetry around it in Southampton and Portsmouth so I guess that's affected the performance somewhat. Oh, and the trees are still enormous at YRED.

August 9, 20214 yr @Bobsk8 You might be right about lower standards because I don't have any recollection during the last 20 years the community was so much forgiving when a developer was slandering publicly a renown vendor.

August 9, 20214 yr Regarding problems with installing the Fix to 1.18.15: Neither the Store nor the XBox App wanted to install the update on my Win 11 Beta system. But it is very easy and fast to uninstall and reinstall MSFS. You only have to keep the "Official" folder (which is in the same directory as "Community"), because this Official folder contains the big 100 GB download you want to avoid. I just move it to another location on the same SSD. Uninstall, re-install and then move the Official folder back. After that you start MSFS. At the screen where you can chose a download directory point to the parent folder of the Official folder (I made this very easy for me: C:\flightsimulator which contains Official and Community). 2 Minutes later everything is fine and you have 1.18.15 running. Most of the issues are probably highly dependent on other things in your configuration. In my case I’ve had no CTDs at all and graphics haven’t been a factor. Sure, I can tell some changes have happened to one thing or another, and my fps has shifted based on the hotfix, but the overall immersion factor is still very good. There are many posts from people saying “see…if you disable add on <X> then the crashes go away!” So my gut says that 3rd party add ons contribute quite a bit. Is that a problem with the SDK or the developer? Could be either or both. Edited August 9, 20214 yr by neil0311

If so yes. I never had the DX12 version of P3D, so I don't know about that, and I was reasonably happy with FSX with Steve's DX10 fixer and one of the environmental sky colour packs (can't remember which one), but MSFS environmental lighting trumps that by some margin. Some people say the sunrise / sunset lighting is a bit too extreme, but I can live with that. I am very happy with it now they have reverted to how it was. I understood what Asobo were trying to do, but it didn't work brilliantly for a lot of us without HDR monitors etc. What are your thoughts? Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).
