PSA: NVidia Anisotropic Bug: in-game setting disabled

Featured Replies

TL;DR:

I believe I’ve found a bug which could explain why some of you are finding graphics are not as good as before.
Although I'm experiencing it with Nvidia drivers 471.47 SD (Studio Drivers), there is a possibility this bug is also affecting the GRD version (Game Ready Drivers).

Thank you. I've applied your fix.

What is your opinion on the settings not sticking issue? Have you found this to be correct and that the setting revert to low or medium as soon as you enter the menus?

So set AF inside MSFS and Let the App decide in the NVCP …

Yeah, but I think the deal is that you have to first Restore the whole NVCP and then go and set AS to Let the App Decide in NVCP. Otherwise the menu in MSFS will not change anything for ever afterwards until you use that Restore button in NVDP again. I think that's what they found out if I understand correctly.

For VR, even after resetting nvcp, reinstalling various drivers and not making any changes in nvcp, I couldn't get the in game anisotropic values to do anything. It's been like this since Su5 install. So far, using the nvcp anisotropic setting is the only way I can get it to have an affect.

btw, nothing has been set to read-only

I'm not sure this actually works. Why on earth do you have to reset the whole nVidia Control Panel? I'm not sure it's the latest nVidia Drivers causing the issues anyway because I'm still on Driver version 471.11 (GTX 1080TI), which was released early July so well before the latest Microsoft/Asobo SU5 update.

I've been reading on Steam forums that the graphic issues reside with the latest SU5 update and that the U.I is not saving the settings. You have to reset the Graphic settings in the Sim and then Save again but I haven't tried that yet.

according my cfg file, the settings are being changed and stay changed, but they have no visual affect

anyway, maybe the next hotfix hey! (Deja vu) 🤪

Edited by dogmanbird

Yeah, I  just tested too, no visual affect in MSFS when you change AS in MSFS Options, General, Graphics, regardless of what or how AS is set in Nvidia CPL.

I'm guessing Asobo did not want Xbox players changing AS to values which that console can't handle.

Well I read on a comment recently that the Console version of MSFS doesn't even have graphic settings to mess with at all. Can anyone confirm that?
