No more CTDs so far!

Featured Replies

Hi,

Yesterday I installed the new Nvidia driver (471.61).

I did it because I was desperate. Tons of CTDs with no apparent reason (at the beginning I thought it was caused by object libraries or add-ons that collided with the SU5 update...), but, even without any add-on, MSFS insisted on crashing!

So I decided to install the driver because I had nothing to loose!

I did three different flights without CTD, but it was late in the afternoon and I quit.

But this morning I tried again, and the result was the same: no CTDs.

Well, this afternoon I flew and flew and... guess what, not a single problem so far!

Hi,

I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super.

The OS is Windows 11 21H2 (22000.120 build).

I wonder if other people have installed the new driver and have had a similar experience.

(I have to go out now, so until tonight or tomorrow I won't see your comments).

Cheers.

😀

I wonder how many people getting frequent CTD's are running 4K?

Reason behind this is I am still using a 42" 1080P LED TV with my 1080TI (Driver 456.71) and I am currently on my 18th flight in the A32NX since Friday's hotfix without a single CTD. Maybe it is something to do with display resolution. On Friday morning I did have some issues then I removed the G1000 mod I downloaded from the marketplace, that was before the 2nd hotfix though.

Just a thought, I would be curious to see if anyone else still rocking a 1080P display is having multiple CTD's

A word of advice to others that want to reduce their CTDs ... don't use Windows 11 at the moment.  The reason is, Windows 11 hasn't been officially released for purchase to the mass market.  Thus, most of Asobo's testing will be on Windows 10. In addition, Windows 11 itself is still undergoing testing before its official release.

In fact, if you want a more stable MSFS, you're actually better off waiting probably 6 months after Windows 11 is officially released, before you switch to Windows 11. Even when Windows 11 is released to the mass market officially, in the first initial months, it will have teething problems and Microsoft will be fixing it and applying patches.  Probably 6 months after Windows 11 is released, would be a good time to switch to it.

Well, I thought I was on to something when I installed the latest SDK and then enjoyed several flights without issue. Then I was back at crashing every flight. Hope your fix isn't as ephemeral as mine was. 😅

Yeah, we have until 2025 to make the switch, no rush.

Asobo said they would fix the CTD issue from SU5  at the end of this month, so they must have a pretty good idea what is causing it.

1080p here.   1 in game CTD since SU5 (at least 80hrs flying since then) and that was a known scenery problem.

I am CTD clicking in the menus though every single time at some point.

I run 1080p and had a CTD last night while backtracking at EGPE after a flight from EGKK. I was not able to reproduce it, but I was using the FBW. First I've had in a while.

1080p here. In general, I've only had a couple CTDs since the SU5 hotfix. I did have a CTD last night while using the FBW A320. Preflight, startup, taxi out all go well. Cleared to the active for takeoff and .... CTD. Frustrating. The only addons I'm using are some liveries so I might have to toss those and add back in one by one to see if there's something there.

On a side note, the sim looks STUNNING since the hotfix.
