Overclocking My 3080 for MFS 2020

Hello! Do you think it would be worth it for me to overclock my Asus 3080? Would I get any boost in performance? Also, what is more important to boost the core clock or the memory clock? Thanks!

In contrast, I would definitively rather undervolt this card for the sake of some FPS instead, resulting in a more quiet and less hot GPU. With todays GPUs, overclocking does not make sense imho, too little FPS gains...

A word of caution though if undervolting, I had a stable undervolt for a while giving me drop of about 10-15 degrees C on temps and about 90 watts less power usage. After a couple of months, I started to get random CTD only with MSFS. Removed the undervolt and it has been rock solid since.

I agree with others there is little benefit in overclocking a 3080 for MSFS but the undervolting is something to consider provided you are willing to put the effort into getting it stable. MSFS is very sensitive to changes on the GPU.

After fiddling around tons in MSI Afterburner, I gave up on trying to overclock as I was getting CTDs even with a relatively small OC's.

Strange question to ask. Usually does not require someone else to tell you if you think overclocking your own components is worth it or not. Just either do it or don't. Based on the results im sure you would come to your own conclusion...

Not bothering me at all .. you asked on a public forum you got an answer ..

As with bbsmitz ... my experience is that, for some reason, the sim does not like overclocking (admittedly I was not overclocking GPU, just CPU and memory) - was the cause of most of my CTD issues even though all other games and applications had no problem with similar overclock.  Save yourself the heartache and don't bother! Cheers!

Well you didn't really answer my question 😉

Thanks to everyone else for their input. If everyone had to test everything on their own the AVSIM forums would be empty.

I certainly did ... What YOU were looking for was the easy way out .. All you needed to do was do the test yourself and LEARN for yourself.. but since you want to depend on the anecdotal experience of others WHO DONT have the same exact configuration as you ... Certainly have at it..

The OP asked a reasonable question. Just suggesting he try it is not really helpful because 1) he may not know how to do it and 2) if does incorrectly it could damage the card.
