Paramount pictures have announced that Top Gun: Maverick has been pushed back from Nov 19 to May 27 next year and presumably the MSFS tie-in expansion gets delayed with it.

This is beyond a joke.  I work in a hobby shop and we got the Revell and Airfix TGM tie-in kits about three months ago.  If I were the one in either company who decided to buy the licencing I'd be screaming blue murder at Paramount.

Paramount is getting closer and closer to make or break time.  They were already in one of the weaker financial positions compared to the other studios even before the pandemic.

Even though it is Microsoft we're talking about, I dont think Paramount is going to be swayed by anything other than their box office interests at this stage.  That said, I have worked on movies where there is material released BEFORE the film.  Given this push, it might work to modify the original plan and let MS put out their DLC in the run up to the May release in order to get an earlier head start to the film's marketing campaign. Who knows?

Maybe it's the other way around: maybe its Microsoft and Asobo that need more time to develop the Top Gun mod.

I can’t believe people in this forum actually think a major movie studio will push back a movie release date because DLC for a niche video game isn’t ready by the movie release date.

It’s like if a cup with Avatar 2’s logo isn’t ready by Avatar 2’s release date, the movie studio behind Avatar 2 is going to delay Avatar 2’s release by half a year, LOLOLOLOLOL.

Tone down the rhetoric a touch.  One person, not people, posted that suggestion.  No one supported that belief,  The general Avsim population understands Paramount is not delaying the release of the movie because of MSFS DLC, so you have no one to win over here.

I think they're delaying the movie release in the hopes that unintentionally hilarious homo-erotic beach volleyball becomes an Olympic sport, so they can do a tie in with that. 🤣

I'm sure you're right, but keep in mind, Paramount Pictures isn't exactly a big powerful company. Microsoft has 100X more employees and 50X their 2019 revenue (2020 revenue wasn't much more than my corner 7-Eleven)

... ok .. I couldnt just "like" that one..

that deserved a post just to LOL.

Nothing wrong with being gay of course, fine by me if that's what floats someone's boat then good luck to them, but I really can't take Top Gun seriously at all, that movie is so far in the closet, it's practically in Narnia.

Darn, it was supposed to be out in 2020 now we’re up to 2022.

Was looking forward to seeing that and No Time to Die which was also pushed from 2020 to this year. Haven’t heard anything yet whether it will also be moved to 2022.

In that case, no movie ever released controlled their own destiny, because no studio is more powerful than the biggest companies in this world.  Every movie ever is just a pawn to the corporate overlords.  May be true, but bleak.

What exactly is this mod supposed to include? Is there an aircraft? Sailable and landable carrier, or just a fixed aircraft carrier like we already have.

I can promise you, Hollywood is not slowing down for flight simulator.
