I think this is the best state that MSFS has ever been in since its release.  Everyone is happy with the FPS they are getting.  And there is no more culling and pop-ins from SU5 if you set the pre-cache terrain slider to ultra (please don't confuse pop-ins with the morphing of mountains - morphing is an ongoing issue).

Enjoy this while it lasts peeps.  Without a doubt, there will be some turbulent updates in the future.  But as always with MSFS, it's like 1 step back with some turbulent updates, and then eventually its 3 steps forward with enough hotfixes, and fixes in the update after.  Overall, we are moving forward in MSFS, despite the setback with certain turbulent updates. Personally, I don't mind the turbulent updates, because I know that if I look at the bigger picture, MSFS keeps getting better and better over time.

I agree MSFS is running pretty well now

On topic, I love the sim right now. It's vorks flawlessly for me (knock on wood). May it last forever.

I can‘t say for sure if it‘s in its best state but it’s certainly pretty solid at the moment and I‘m enjoying it a lot. I hope they can maintain this stability and start to tackle some of the more fundamental issues. For me, personally, that‘s morphing, night lighting, weather system and the navaid/flight planning system (user waypoints etc). 

 Now I just need to be able to stop myself from obsessively fiddling with the settings!

I understand the Greelgothorp flightsim, available from BEM's incorporated (only available via streaming from Gliese 667Cc) has features MSFS can only dream of.

Except for the 49 Payware airports that I stupidly purchased on the marketplace,never again.....

See this is the hard part from anyone coming from FSX/P3D--a very long history of mega installations of disparate content packages, every one with their own installer or purchase/authentication interface, setting each item up correctly etc etc ad nauseum.  Old habits die hard!  I'm super stoked to put this legacy garbage behind me and have everything in one place and actually support the Marketplace for just that reason.  Now, if you need to wipe and reinstall Windows God forbid, it's really a simple (albiet lengthy of course) matter to reinstall MSFS.

As long as we are moving in the right direction. Thats why it drives me nuts when people panic when an update breaks something. They try something, It fails... and they pretty much always fix it.

Everytime I see a post mentioning some presumably clever alteration to the config (or whatever) I just shake my head and move on.....

I fell for that as well, but thankfully kept it to only 5.  Once I learned almost all developers left out an important piece (to me) I've not bought another one except for the last 2 of those 5 where the developer took the effort to insure ILS freq are selectable in the G3000's Waypoint Info > Airport > Freq tab.  But honestly, the default ones, especially if you aren't familiar w/ the specific airport, are so good and often better than payware offerings.  My biggest guess is that at some point MSFS will be a subscription service w/ a monthly fee involved.  If that translated into $10/month for example, it would be roughly 13y by the time I caught up with what I spent on P3D!
