Make sure you go into UserCfg and change Sharpen and FilmGrain to 0. Did the trick for me.

Thanks for the heads up, it worked for me too. I also disabled fringe.

WOW!
Guys, with the above settings + HDR also color banding is gone and the sim looks stunning.

I don't know if you can see it, if you have an HDR monitor you should be able to select the HDR version of the Youtube video:

The clouds look great but before the SU5, they were way better.

I hope, Asobo will improve it with the SU7 and after....

This didn't work for me. FilmGrain was already set to 0. Before SU6 clouds looked fine for me but after the update they have the grain "effect" once again.

Although there are some similarities, it isn't possible to run the same build from PC on Xbox. The executable wouldn't work. One reason being the operating system (but not the only reason). They really are different builds.

The executable is certainly different, in order for the correct configuration flags to be enabled/disabled. But otherwise, the code seems to be the exact same, and if Working Title say so I think we can take their word. So far I have not seen anything official suggesting otherwise, and they've talked a lot about how they want the two versions to share the same code to ensure cross-play, add-on compatibility and so on. I don't think it's a coincidence that both PC and Xbox are receiving updates and new betas at the same time with the same build numbers.

So it makes no sense to state or imply that they diminished the quality of the PC version to squeeze it into the Xbox, because porting doesn't work like shoe-horning one into the other. They didn't need to touch the PC version to create an Xbox ported version.

I can't say I agree. Both the graphics as well as the UI took a big hit with Sim Update 5 and showed obvious Xbox limitations (which I understand that Asobo never intended to leave in the PC version, I'm not trying to complain here). This assertion is further reinforced by what I saw in the beta, which I unfortunately cannot elaborate on.

Indeed and they didn’t hide it, this is exactly what Lionel Fuentes described in a video interview. An all-out «optimization » process to fit the code in the S Xbox limited RAM.

You're reiterating some of my own point re aiding development across platforms.

I'm not saying the code is completely different, I'm saying the build is different. They really didn't need to touch the PC version to favour the Xbox build, which isn't to say that they didn't do some of the same optimisation at the core (as I suggested), but only because it benefits the PC version. Yes, they had to optimise (and change some of) the original code to work on the Xbox, but they could have left the PC build the same as it was, as they are two separate builds. They had a choice. Seb (I think it was) said this: the reason they changed the PC version when working on Xbox was to gain headroom for further PC updates. Again, they needn't have touched the PC build. So they didn't dumb down the PC build for the Xbox, they optimised the PC build (finding transferable gains in the process of developing for Xbox, no doubt) solely for the benefit of the PC.

I can't really explain it any better, so I'll leave it there. I was just trying to dispel the conspiracy: they've ruined the sim because of the Xbox. Not at all.

Definitely a more pronounced color banding issue in SDR mode. Probably there since SU5.

SU6 Live Weather Clouds (Time Lapse)

Edited by OSM

I am seeing some screenshots and videos and clouds look really good to me. No pixelation, no grainy. But like me, some people have problems with clouds, grainy and pixelated. I'm using nvidia 1080ti with latest driver and ncp all default, can't get rid of grainy and pixelated clouds even if sharpen and filmgrain set to 0.

Thousands of hours in real life flying above cloud decks, looks pretty good to me, but what do I know. 😉
