September 10, 20214 yr Commercial Member Hello! Is it me or the clouds are pixelated and grainy after the new WU? I feel like they are not as crisp as before. I also get of lot of the cloud flashing when I fly through them. I would love to see everyone thoughts. Thanks! September 10, 20214 yr My clouds have always been grainy especially when I’m up close to them like cloud surfing etc and depending on the “type” of clouds..Ive played around with some settings to try and sort it but I’m thinking it’s a limitation of my system cause I’m only running a Gtx 1060 6gb, an I7 7700 non K and 16GB ram. September 10, 20214 yr There have been changes since SU5 (I don't want to re-start an XBox-downgrade discussion here, but as a matter of fact there have been changes!) that clearly affect visuals, and especially clouds. It's not only "grainy" looking clouds, but color banding, fringes and the general loss of fidelity. Where I would have said "WOW!" pre-SU5 I now force myself to say "nice" (we have a saying here that "nice" is the little sister of sh..."). Here's some topics from the MSFS-forums: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/purple-and-green-color-bands-since-update-5/447533 https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/color-is-off-since-sim-update-5/428619 https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/clouds-look-like-oil-painting/427680/55 https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/washed-out-graphics-post-su5/428012/40 Asus ROG STRIX X870-E Gaming; Ryzen9 9950X3D; RX9070XT; 96GB RAM; 4GB/2GB M.2 SSD; 8GB HDD; LG 45GX90SA-B

September 10, 20214 yr A bit grainy when looked at close (in ultra), I can accept that for now, I'm sure Asobo will tweak them a bit more eventually. I've seen them looking like that, but also not looking like that (i.e. great), and that's been true since launch, no matter which version. I don't know how the clouds work, but I think quality is just variable depending on -- well, I wouldn't like to guess. Lately, they have appeared superb to me. But it's only recently they also looked pixelated during one flight. So... Who knows?

September 26, 20214 yr My clouds are really not good compared to how they were. I think SU5 was the update that really made them veey bad. When I first bought MSFS one of the things I found really impressive was the clouds. Not any more. That's right--they took a big hit, presumably for performance reasons, and that very likely for Xbox initially. With my RTX 2070 Super clouds could just flat out nail the GPU. They will retune it I'm sure, and find a balance that fits w/ current hardware, PC & Xbox. Perhaps it won't be until their purported 'impressive weather update' coming next year. Yeah, but surely they just need to add a couple of lines to the code: IF X Box render clouds at X IF PC render clouds at Y I know it's not quite that simple, but I'm sure you get my drift.
