Xplane Next Generation (FSexpo)

Featured Replies

I like the ocean water, water effects on the ground, the lighting is good enough for me, and the new animated trees are long overdue.

However, I doubt that I'll be upgrading. XP 11 is good enough for what I do with the sim. I'll wait to see if MSFS matures, but my X-Plane run has ended at 11.

Having said that, if they give me a free copy, I'll take it! 😀

I asked Ben on the slack channel (Yesterday) about the global scenery and they are even *yet to cut the data*...

The same goes for performance, they are not even optimizing yet, they are still adding new features.

I'm sure you're correct. So I do hope that those who believed X-Plane 12 would be available any time soon -- like some of my friends -- will realize they're in for another never-ending series of unforeseen delays and philosophical musings and private alphas and endlessly-patched-up betas and phantom promises and third-party incompatibilities, etc. This big announcement about X-Plane 12 reminds me of a politician who says he's established an exploratory committee to determine when he will start considering the possibility of setting up a staff to pursue a study about the feasibility of considering a potential run for office. Big Whoop!

I think It would have convince those who left to come back

XP11 never really lost anyone, growth slowed a fair bit and that was it, couple hundred less regular users than this time last year, couple hundred more regular users than this time two years ago.

The biggest sales issue XP11 faced and XP12 faces is "the good stuff" doesnt run on some 80% of windows machines (and never will).

Hi,

I use Xplane 11 and Ortho photo real ZL18/19 (all free) and can see my house just fine, one does not need payware!

Anyone who has this expectation of seeing their own house in the sim without purchasing addons should probably not be using X-Plane or P3D anymore...

XP is a ghost town. Only diehards left and the people that bought XP when MSFS was unusable, expecting a comparable experience. These have probably gone after starting the sim once.

Heck, Flight Factor HAVE A DISCORD NOW and are open about UPDATING THEIR A320, releases of new and interesting airplanes yield maybe five comments on the org and here, after a week --- yet you guys keep up this "XP is in as good shape as ever" nonsense when every single person with an open mind and no financial interest in XP can see that the opposite is true.

Loyalty is not a bad thing, but going full r****d never helps. Never.

It only appears that way because excessive moderation pushed most off forums and onto discord.

Mentour Pilots 800k subscribers watching the Sparky744 overrun the runway

is hardly representative of a "ghost town"

I already own MSFS and enjoy it, I don't need more of the same.

Now please move on sir.

If this guy uses XP in his video, that makes him 1 (one) and not 800.000.

Microsoft paid a lot more than I or LR did (nothing) to have highly influential youtubers demo their wares. The 800,000 are the people in on the conversation.

Right yet, all XP11 twitch streamer uses the Microsoft Flight simulator category directory as the XP11 one is dead.  Let's be honest, X-plane is a niche product and the user base is miniscule compare to MSFS. That's just a fact. It doesn't mean Xplane 11 is bad. It's a reality

have you check how many downloads are done on flightsim.to ? I will give an example https://flightsim.to/file/8970/airbus-h135-helicopter-project 350K download for the H135 helicopter. I am sure your mods is helping the xplane 11 community  but do you have 350k download ?

I care about the 80% of windows users who cant use vulkan even less than they care about themselves. They have MSFS as a runners up prize and I am happy for them.

I guess the good news is that all of the flightsimmers with more than a passing interest in the hobby are in the 20% that can use Vulkan.  Sort of a mute point.

We MSFS users spread the Gospel here for the same reason that churches send missionaries to foreign countries: To provide the uninformed with an opportunity to hear the One Truth.

Hi,

I think you keep coming back trying to win over new users because if the subscription based cash flow slows/stops... so does MS2020 and you're worried!
