Altimeter settings

Featured Replies

Why is it no matter where I go in the world and what the weather may be, I'm being told my altimeter setting is 29.92 and I have live weather on.  HiFi sim where are you?

Same for me. A bug I have assumed.

If you are flying over 18,000 ft, it's the required setting (USA)..not sure about other countries

I was getting 29.92 all the time also. I double checked that Live Weather check marked before I clicked start flight and it seems to have corrected this for me (tuned to ATIS Freq and got 30.00). I have not investigated if I need to do this for every flight yet.

It works for me, never had this issue.

It works here too. The altimeter setting changes with the weather both in terms of ATC instruction and B key effect.

I think I found the problem.  Not sure when this happened but as soon as you adjust the times settings, live weather shuts off.  I could have sworn that in the past I was able to adjust the time and keep live weather active.

That’s odd, it stays on for me

Live weather still works for me after adjusting the time.

Also when I hit the "b" key to auto set the barometric pressure on the AI to the correct value my altitude changes by several hundred feet.

Why just me?  LOL

Have you tried not setting to Live Weather until you spawn at your departure?  Months ago I was having your issue, not only with BP but live weather working at all.  I saw a post about setting the weather to a Clear Skies Preset before clicking "Fly", then selecting Live Weather from the drop-down menu.

Ever since then, I hit the Clear preset, then select Live Weather after entering the cockpit.  The weather (for the most part) has been fairly accurate and the BP has been correct.  When I reset the time the weather and BP are still correct.

Awesome, TY Randall.  Will give it a try tonight.

I always get the correct altimeter setting and I use live weather.

Above 18000' we all get 29.92 because they use the USA default transition altitude allover the World...

Would be great, since they have access to all of that data through Navigraph, if they could use the published transition altitudes depending on where you're flying, same regarding transition levels, unless stated as "assigned by ATC" which might in that case become generated based on MSA + local transition altitude.

Not that complex to implement I believe ...
