LaunchedOctober 24, 2020

Initial release of this file just launched. Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the notice. Just landed this plane/mod 5 minutes ago and it's one of my favorites to fly in this sim. 😊

Autopilot tweaks... Autopilot? On a C152???

Excellent MOD !

Had to finally create my account there too. All I had from ".to" was the SHIFT-Z tool.

I've had so much fun flying his modded 152.  Gotta laugh at him bolting on an autopilot,  I haven't tried it yet because well, it's a 152!  Hehehe...

Due to a lot of requests for him to do this on the official MSFS forum.

Like you say, you don't have to use it.  As we know about MSFS, there are a lot of weekend pilots that aren't too hung up on the exact details of reality, and just want to enjoy the experience.
I think the only mistake the guy has made its by trying to please everybody, as usual, and sometimes you just cant win!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Why can't they just use the in game AP?! Seems a bit silly to add AP to a plane that doesn't have it in real life, matters not I'll ignore that part and enjoy the rest of his great work 🙂

Excuse my ignorance - but where is this   " in game AP " ... ?

Intel i7 - 9700K @ 3.60 GHz   |   Asus RTX 3080  |  32 GB RAM  |  Saitek ProFlight Yoke System and Rudder Pedals | X-Touch Mini | Honeycomb Bravo TQ

The main forums are famous for GPS and autopilot whining.

Basically they want $100,000 worth of Avionics installed in everything even if it in real-life it is an aircraft that sells second hand for a quarter of that figure.

I was referring to the Menu Bar AP.

Yep, I saw that. I'll admit, I like options on aircraft.  Options!  If I choose to use them, I can.  if not, I don't.  I won't demand it from a developer who is doing things FOR FREE!  That can turn off a developer and they may abandon their mod.

Have just tried the mod. Well, I don't mean to offend anyone, but the flight dynamics is completely off. I don't know why the author removed the propwash effect on the elevator, but in a real Cessna 152, as soon as you apply takeoff power, you can easily raise the nose even if the airplane haven't picked up any speed yet. With this mod, I could pull all the way to my belly, but the nose was staying like glued to the runway. Secondly, the flaps extension effect (trim speed perturbation) is missing. They extend like nothing, while any high wing Cessna will zoom like crazy on flaps extension. Thanks for improvements, but this definitely requires more work.

Is it really that unusual for owners of the C-152 to put an autopilot as extra equipment in their aircrafts?

I've seen don't know how many hundreds of C152 and haven't seen a single one with an autopilot. Mind you, putting an AP is not just inserting a neat faceplate into the instrument panel. You have to pretty much overhaul the aircraft: the AP needs sensing units to receive angular accelerations data and steering machines (servos) to operate the controls. It's not a cheap thing. And as it was quite truly noticed before, there is not point in putting a piece of equipment into an airplane that is itself doesn't worth 1/4 of it.
