Performance degradation on long flights fixed?

Like Andreas stated above: "8+" hours. 😉

Thank you for clarifying. In which case I will leave this discussion and find the "performance degradation on medium haul flights" one instead, which must deal with an entirely different issue.

I know you're being sarcastic.

I value your info. I think it's the same issue. People are just being pedantic.

This was wiith AI enabled and I think multiplayer. Will set up another flight and leave running to test. My PC is an identical spec to that of Andreas

From what I read about one week ago or so is that when flying in multiplayer the sim tends to lag significantly thus reducing performance all because of a user that has a livery installed that you do not.

Since reading on that I have stopped using multiplayer as well as turning off the AI traffic as it just doesn't look good whatsoever. I haven't had any issue with performance loss since then.

I am actually loving the sarcastic humour in this thread!

For my own input, I will say that performance degradation on short and medium flights, and hell, even bush trips, is probably a subset of performance degradation on long haul flights.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

That's interesting as I have both Realtime and Multiplayer turned on and my first ever long haul (see other thread..) was severely affected by performance degradation to a 50% loss at the time of giving up!

Clearly "More" needs to be done in respect to the now old patch notes: "More optimization work has been performed including performance issue with Real-time AirTraffic after a long period of time"

I however do not wish to alter settings to continuously workaround issues with this Sim, instead I just won't attempt any future long haul flights until this issue is rectified completely.

As you quoted a post I made over 1 year ago my experience with the performance degradation on long flights has been common. I can fly up to 7 hours before experiencing a 50% or more decrease in fps and performance. Its an issue which really ought to be fixed asap, I don't care for the world updates until this issue is fixed.

It will seriously influence my decision on purchasing long haul aircraft such as the upcoming PMDG 777, as what is the point in spending $100+ on an aircraft I cannot perform a long haul flight in, which is designed for just that. I have talked to PMDG about this as I was having issues with the BBJ and decided to mention to performance degradation. They said that they will be in contact with Asobo about this - but if they are at all active on the MSFS offical forum, they will have seen the constant posts about this particular issue.

We lived to work around the 32bit program which was FSX and grew used to expecting a CTD after a certain amount of hours, but I haven't ever experienced such an issue with a program before such as the one present in MSFS. Either its fixed in the next SU, or its on the back burner again for another two years, which by then there will be thousands of new customers flying the PMDG 777 or other such aircraft, wondering why their sim is reducing in performance after so many hours.

Yes ISLC and NDU fix has sorted my issues. Can do over 5 hour flights now in the Fenix no worries.

would you please elaborate on those fixes? where and how to get/implement them?

I'm suffering form FPS drop over time (usually 3-4hrs) after starting the flight (with any Jet at high altitude)

Interesting that you doubled down on your stupid comments. The performance degradation occurs over time. I'm fairly certain that the issue isn't due to the Asobo definition of what constitutes a long haul flight. And if you think long haul is defined as 8+ hours then you better contact a few airlines and regulatory bodies as they're all wrong apparently. Wind your neck in.

Thanks for the link, I'll try the NDU regedit (not gonna touch my RAM as that's perfectly fine) and see if that helps but chances of doing a 1+ hour flight any time soon are very limited!

5 hours is fine, but 7 to 8+ you will experience performance loss regardless. It also depends on what area in the world you fly in. For example - I can fly from Cork to Tenerife and back to Cork which is a 9 hour round trip when you factor in ground time. With that flight I don't experience any performance loss whatsoever, but when I fly Manchester to Hurgahada and back which is around a 12 hour round trip my performance drops by over 50% halfway through the return flight, and those flights are in the Fenix 320.

But 5 hours are not 8+  - I would say a big difference, that are memory leaks, if they ever can fixed i don`t know..

cheers 😉

many thanks for the link.

I have already implemented those fixes some time ago and still having FPS drop over time till eventually CTD.
