Why am I thinking of Tron...  (And Automan?)

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Amazing , the future is now .

No thanks.  I'm fed up with mind blowing and awesome.  My 2019 Prius is mind blowing and awesome enough for me.   I have a hard enough time getting in and out of my Prius with my cane.  I'd never be able to get out of the that Mercedes.

When the lease is up on my Prius a year from now I think I'll let it go and just get an old truck because it will be easier to get in and out of and won't have that word not allowed touch screen where I have to park and figure out how to change the fan speed.  A knob on the dash for that would would be just mind blowing and awesome for me.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Noel, that's the only complaint I have with my little Toyota Camry. Getting in isn't too bad, but getting out again is a massive pain (literal pain). I may wind up buying a truck myself.

Here's the Rolls Royce website...   https://www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com/en_US/home.html

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

A Rolls is an option, but unfortunately the nearest dealer is in Dallas, 500 miles away.

Luckily I have handicapped sticker so I can park in handicapped zone and have enough room crawl after exiting my car.  I still haven't found an easy way to do it.

As someone who's had a disc issue for 25 years, getting in and out of a car is the first thing I consider. I have a huge purpose built cushion as a lumbar support. I'm okay as long as I'm careful, but lower back support is very important for me. Like you, a low car is no go.

A light clutch is also important as my knee can be dodgy.

Having said that, my daughter has just bought a miniscule Fiat 500 and despite its diminutive size getting in and out is okay as the roof is quite high. No touchscreens but it does have other weirdness, like a break pedal that's offset to the left. Also the brake pedal is too high and the accelerator is too close and high. I find that I have to be further away from the clutch than I'd like to be correct for the accelerator. Bonkers stuff. First car I've ever driven with crazy pedals.

I didn't know they made cars with manual transmissions anymore.  I've driven with an automatic for so long I doubt if I could use a manual transmission anymore.

I have a friend who wanted a new Toyota Camry but insisted on a manual transmission.  He had to wait three months for delivery.

My Prius has some sort of transmission with a planetary gear system since it has to switch between the gasoline engine and electric motor or sometimes use both at the same time and use both the gasoline engine and the wheels when coasting or braking to charge the battery.  I have no idea how it all works.  I have a graphic on the instrument panel that shows me which motor is being used and when the battery is charging.  Sometimes it seems like it's doing everything at once.  Toyota magic.

I haven't figured out yet whether to get out of the car and then reach in for my cane or try to use the cane to help me get out.  That's a work in progress.

I need the cane to get from the car to a shopping cart in the market.  Once I get my hands on the shopping cart I'm OK.

I also have a walker in the garage and use it to take walks in the park.  I can almost run when I have my walker.

My problem is balance.  I've taken some falls.  But other than that my legs are in great shape.

Getting old's a word not allowed and then you die.

Love to know what they think is going to happen to those wheels when you pull up to the kerb.

eating fake meat

I draw the line at eating fake meat.  I've tried it.  You can't fake a rare prime rib or ribeye steak or even a good hamburger.  And I love English muffins drenched in real butter.  And while vegan eggs made of 11 different plants can be scrambled to look and maybe taste like eggs they can't be fried over easy, poached, boiled, or fried hard to put on a egg McMuffin.

As we get more and more restrictions and alternatives I become less and less the conservationist I used to be.  Sorry grandkids but I'm starting to take on the attitude that the earth didn't exist before I got here and will cease to exist after I leave.
