Bonanza Turbo V4 -Su6 RELEASED

Featured Replies

It's rare that I have any issues on touchdown, even in a strong crosswind, as I have a good feel for the Bonanza and several other aircraft.  Today I went through one of the bumpiest approaches I've ever experienced with the Bonanza (continuous wind-shear and gusting with a quarterly headwind for the entire 11 mile final).  She handled it like a trooper and I hardly felt the landing.  But... as soon as I lowered the nose wheel to the pavement and began braking it was like a demon had taken over the rudder and the wheels were trying to leave the pavement.

Like you, once I had the aircraft significantly slowed, I was able to taxi normally.  I don't have to come to a complete stop, but with touchdown from 70-80 KTS through about 30 KTS it's "Johnny bar the door".  When I get below 30 she seems to collect herself and behave properly.

What I attempted to convey in my post was that my experiences like these have not been limited to one aircraft model or mod.  And there has seemed to be differences between airports, not totally defined by default vs addon airports. I believe it to be related to the simulator itself and the way it reacts to what it reads, be it winds, pavement, slopes, or other various forces on takeoff or landings, etc,

I agree - I experience these issues from time to time with all aircraft and under different conditions.

Well I spoke too soon.  Had two successful flights with the Turbo mod/NXi setup, but today, about an hour into my flight, I pressed the FPL button (I had already viewed the flight plan about a dozen times during the flight) and found myself on the desktop.

Guess I'll go back to the GTN750 until the next update comes out.

Update - i decided to repeat the flight with one adjustment to the OS.  All went well - no CTD.  I'll do a couple more flights with this setup.  If it works I'll report on the setting.

Alright - last report on this situation.  I can confirm that I've had no more CTDs with the G36 Turbo/NXi combination by doing the following:

Under the Lock Screen area of the Windows 10 Settings;

  • Turn off Screen Saver
  • Make sure any Custom Power Plan is set to High Performance

Even though there is no need for a screen saver with modern monitors, I still use it occasionally - I'm a photographer and I enjoy seeing my photos displayed when I'm not using my system for a while.  I also have a custom power setting to shut off some items when I'm not using the computer for a few hours.  I was under the mistaken impression that the the use of Game Mode would automatically shut down the Screen Saver and go to High Performance - it apparently does neither, but simply protects against prioritizing resources for the game.

By making sure the Saver was off and presetting to my High Performance power plan before starting MSFS, I have not experienced any more of these particular CTDs.  It's interesting that Windows continues to interfere with its own programs...

Also  ID your USB flight controls in Windows Control Panel / Device Manager under Human Interface Devices.  In each ones properties make sure Advanced Power Management is disabled.

Hi Everyone,

I have FS2020 Standard Edition for two months. The community folder is empty, meaning this is the first time I put anything in this folder.

I installed the Bonanza Turbo V4.1 to the community folder. I can see this aircraft registered in the Content Manager, but it is not in My Hangar.

I thought maybe I installed in the wrong folder, so I tried other addon aircrafts to my community folder, I can see them in My Hangar and choose it to fly.

Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Exactly what file or folder did you put into the Community Folder?  You want to have the folder Bonanza-Turbo-V4-1SU6 in the Community folder, not the zip file that contains this folder (unless you are using something like the Addon Linker program).

Hi Al,

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have Addon Linker and I have no idea what Addon Linker is.

I unzipped the folder called Bonanza-Turbo-V4-1SU6 into my Community folder. This aircraft only showed in Content Manager, but not in My Hangar.

I have tried other addon aircrafts to make sure I was installing into the correct folder, these other planes showed up in My Hangar.

Do you see a Bonanza in your hangar?  And are you sure it is not the Turbo version?

No Bonanza at all in My Hangar. I also don't have the FS2020 Bonanza G36 because I only bought the Standard Edition.

Bonanza is in standard edition.  So it's not that.  Can you take a screenshot of what your file structure looks like?  Need to make sure it was unzipped correctly like others mentioned.

Oh that made me think!

You need to download more content in the Content Manager.

You have to keep "digging down" through the zip file(s) and folders until you get to a second folder called Bonanza-Turbo-V4-1SU6. If you open this folder you should see something like the below. If so, THAT Bonanza-Turbo-V4-1SU6 folder is the one you need to put into the Community folder. At least that works for me.

EDIT: What I see is that the original downloaded zip file called Bonanza-Turbo-main.zip contains two folders called Bonanza-Turbo-main (one inside the other). The second one of these folders contains another zip file called BonanzaTurboV41SU6.zip. This second zip file contains two folders called Bonanza-Turbo-V4-1SU6 (one inside the other), and it is the second one of these folders that has the contents below and needs to go into the Community folder.

Why the the key folder is so "embedded" I have no idea.

Al

The Turbo-V4-1SU6 folder in the Community folder should contain the following:

Hi Bert, Ark & ryanbatcund,

I am an word not allowed. And it is always the user fault!!!

In My Hangar, it said I have 32 planes before installing the BonanzaTurbo. After I installed the Bonanza Turbo it said I have 32 planes. I didn't realize the Turbo version 'replaces' the regular FS2020 version. DOH!

Thanks again to you all in helping me, much appreciated.
