Thank both of you.  Please allow me to point out that it appears neither of you recognized my question.  First, my post was about changing the default settings for loads and I believe I pointed out that I had located the file "flight_model.cfg" and adjusted the settings for load (persons in which seats and their weights, and baggage weight).  So I am not looking for the file location for that.  I had indicated that I had found that file.

My question was about the default fuel load (50%).  I did not find the setting for that in the file and asked if anyone is aware of where that setting is held.  It might be a universal MSFS setting and then not aircraft model specific.  Just asking.

Here is what I did for default settings in my Turbo Bonanza flight_model.cfg file.  Find your path to the G36Bonanza Turbo folder set and it should be in this subfolder:

.........\G36 Bonanza Turbo v3\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Bonanza_G36\

Mine is is a custom or user defined location because I use Addons Linker.

No - I understood that, Frank - I'm running a grepwin search (atm) on several words in the Official folder to see where it goes. 
This flightsim is so full of maddening incongruites it would make a cat spit.

LOL!  I have logged 14.2 hours this week as I traveled from Baltimore to Indiana to Kansas City to Denver to Vegas to Los Angeles.  Staying up with my St Louis Blues NHL schedule.  Accordingly I battled icing conditions from Indiana to Kansas City and then on the flight to Denver.

I suspect maybe fuel load is set in your default flight plan file ?   

I assume if you just spawn randomly with no flightplan the game creates one automatically somehow?  No idea never really looked into it.

I think its hardcoded, all planes including 3rd parties all defaults to 50% fuel load.

Only one solution I see: adjust the fueltank max. load in the F_M.cfg and you have more or less fuel by default 50% 😉

I'm a little puzzled by all the consternation over the default fuel load of 50%.  They could have made it 0% (admittedly unrealistic) which would always require attention, or made it 100% which could still require attention since depending on the aircraft you can't always fill the tanks and all the seats/cargo compartments at the same time, so again some adjustment to remove fuel might be required. So 50%fuel doesn't seem unreasonable.

There is also the reasonable viewpoint (IMO) that checking the fuel and making sure you have what you need is a BASIC pilot responsibility before any flight. And if necessary it only takes a few seconds to adjust the fuel load with the fuel slider.

However, to each his own.

Consternation?  I believe you are misreading or misinterpreting.  It was my question and only about changing the default from 50% to whatever if so desired.  I do not see in that question anything that even remotely matches that definition.  And the remainder of your response appears to be based on your own consternation that someone dared ask such a question.
