Thank you and thank you to everyone for all the information in this thread!  Turns out Newegg shipped from NJ and everything should be here tomorrow.  Enermax even has a $9 LGA1700 adapter for my current cooler to make things that much easier... This will determine if I really need to invest in a GPU.  With G-Sync my 2080 and this CPU I may not even need the massive $2,000 hit of a new GPU.

Edit:  I took the hit 😂  Just as I typed I may not need a 3080ti I got the notification to buy one at MSRP.  So yeah.  I lasted all of 3 minutes.  Anyone need a 2080 😉

Nice one Paul.  I will be watching your thoughts on the new CPU combo.  I want either the 12900 or the 12700, and will use my old DDR4 RAM.

You will love the 3080Ti.  It's got that little bit more VRAM - DX12 ready!

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Please, everyone do not buy a 12900k if that eliminate stutters, because then Asobo is not going to work in that issues and faults and solve them.

Sorry Peloto, but we are all going 12900k, tinned heat sink with water cooling for 5.5Ghz, 64Gb of DDR5, and Nvidia 3090Ti GPU (when they come out).
We are going to power our way through the stutters so that Asobo can have the year off and just deliver loads of extra content and forget about bugs and optimisation - don't get left behind!

Ok, I am going to buy two of each, one as spare.

Although, we must write here moaning that all is full of stutters and there are stutters in the stutters.

I think my stutters are sorted now, it is just the micro-pauses that are killing me!

I don't  think that my 5900x (12 core) ever hit 30% load but my FPS is a solid 75 so I have no reason to care. 🤪

BTW - I want my GPU to be maxed during a game but the CPU should be comfortable.

Solid 75 in 4K? And in what scenarios? Such as over NYC, London, Paris etc.?

Still see no reason why to upgrade from my 9900k that runs 4.7GHz on all cores

Of course! In 4K resolution, you can't get 75 FPS.)

Why only 4.7? Boost on that chip is 5ghz. Shouldn’t run a 9900K below 5ghz imo

Well yes it kind of does or I wouldn't ask. I am planning on purchasing a new PC soon and curious in what circumstances and scenarios you are achieving 75 fps? Sharing info helps others choose their builds.

Silicon lottery my friend. Not all chips are created equal. I can do 4.8 on all cores also but anything past that is sketchy stability wise no matter how I tweak the bios. So 4.7 is my safe space.   Plus temps at 5GHz are beyond my cooling capability

Ahhh yeah I just realised mines a 9900KS, so I think it’s designed for 5ghz. Didn’t realise alias the K wasn’t.

It is much easier to go go low temp / power / heat these days.
