AIG and KATL

Featured Replies

This also happens at the French WU LFMN - Nice.

I've honestly only seen it happen at a handful of airports.

I hope this sort of issue is resolved within AIG because situations like these will keep on happening. Since it doesn't happen with default AI, the issue is best addressed directly by the AIG developers.

The problem at KATL can also be present in dozens if not hundreds of ASOBO and payware airports which might take time to address. We received reports of similar issues with KMSY. We will take a look at it and resolve but the time to get updated in the marketplace is very long.

Much simpler if AIG finds out how to resolve this.

since we use the internal AI system it is nothing we can fix. Basicall AIGTC spawns the Airplane via SimConnect and when it should depart informs the SIm via SimConnect about it, rest is done internally by the Sim. Since the SimObjects are working on other airports it has to be the airport itself that is the issue....

I have not checked the WU ATL airport yet, but the issue in Nice seemed to be related to hold short nodes...

We would need to fully rewrite the whole AI system to fix this on our end 😞

Did a small test at default ATL (no WU airport), airpalnes (AIG( are taking off at runway 26L/R without issues

Dave, would you consider sharing your revised files somewhere (e.g. flightsim.to)?

Hello @honanhal

Dave probably hasn't read seen your msg yet (or has contacted you via private message and i'm not aware of that), but if you are interested here's a link to mine (remember it's just 3 nodes modified to allow departures from RW 9L-27R, i haven't checked if other RW have the same prob, It also doesn't fix any kind of parking or aircraft routing issue).

--> https://www.mediafire.com/file/039wjef9di898ov/katl-hartsfield---jackson-atlanta-i.zip/file

And here is what i did based on the 'do not give a man a fish, teach him to how to fish' motto 😇😜😁 and if someone is interested to try fixing other airport where they see the same error :

- launch ADE
- menu file -> create project from stock
- type KATL in the IDENT field, set project name, then click on GO
- leave the rest as default -> then 'save'
- a big message appears with lots of errors, i just ignore it by closing it 🤞😋
- the airport will then appear in the editor (can take several minute to load because it's a big one)
- zoom over RW 27L-9R, you'll notice 3 grey dots, see pic below (1 near the big red square for 9R, 2 near the big red square for 27L)
- double click on them, change the 'point type' value from 'hold short no sign' to 'normal'
- then save the projet
- the use the 'File -> 'Build project' option  (this seems to launch briefly the FS.exe to compile the projet, i have steam version so i noticed steam launching when i clicked on that option)
- it will create a new folder inside this folder  -> <yourafcadprojetfolder>\Packages\
- put that folder (the one inside 'packages') inside you community folder and restart the sim and test, it should work

@Kaiii3 it's 9R/27L i think which has the issue, not 26L/R where you did the test if your msg is correct. Anyway whatever runway it is it's something MS should fix and not you (oh well maybe one day you'll find a way to fix MS issues or get hired by them, we can hope 🤞)

spelling and bad option given for the creation of the initial project

@Bad_T,

Ai departed fine on all 27 and 26 during the test later. Not checked 9 and 8

Kai, that's with the non-World Update Atlanta, correct? Problem is with the World Update Atlanta?

Bad_T, it's multiple runways at KATL with the problem, not just 9R/27L (the one I captured the image from). I watched traffic at KATL for a couple hours and never say a takeoff on any runway. I did see them stack up like that and eventually timeout and disappear. OI also saw landing aircraft on the opposite ends of the runways which did then taxi to the Gates.

you're welcome @Magnus Magnuson, cool if that worked for you.

@Phantoms, d4mned very hard to tell why it doesn't work for you. Have you tried the AFCAD i posted ? I just restested with my changed afcad posted above and i see planes taking off from all runways (currently in my sim, after waiting a few minutes, i saw takeoffs from 26L, 27L, 27R and 28) and i did change just the 9R/27L where i saw the big pile-ups before the change.

oh well it's sometimes a bit hard to understand MSFS as far as AI is concerned, you never know if what you see is a bug / and random anomaly / a feature 😛 hehe, but hey we'll keep digging and fighting to try to understand and improve 😜👍

Understood. Its fine with me finding a way to fix it and updating. The problem is that its beyond our control to release this ASAP in the marketplace. And in the case of KATL an ASOBO airport, that may also prove to be very difficult to push out soon enough. My assumption is that its not just a handful, its probably dozens if not hundreds.

I thought it would have been a much simpler process but I understand now its not. Thanks for your reply!

The version always appears as P3D. How will the EXE start as msfs? :(

This is a BIG problem which until now has been masked by broken AI logic.

I have about 40 add on airports, many from ORBX - I’ve seen issues at many of these.

no takeoffs

taxiways broken, spinning planes on hold short lines, no landings the list goes on.

The days of manually altering AFCADs is surely gone and not practical to the sane person - full procedural rewrite is the only way of solving this - and whilst Asobo are at it can we have the aircraft wheels actually touching the ground too, assuming sim objects actually know where the ground is🤔

I have made Jörg aware of it already multiple time, but I guess now it is the first time that the majority of users/developers will see these issues....

I was talking about my observations this past weekend when I posted that pic. All runways were acting up. I wonder if that one runway was causing the issues across all runways and you fixing that one in effect fixed all. I haven't had a chance to test your fix  as I'm still at work (don't tell anyone).

I have a feeling this is a widespread problem across many, many airports.  I do not know if Asobo used some sort of script to take their data and change it into xml or whatever base they use, but I'm not sure how practical it would be to re-code the script to handle those sorts of node/runway situations as we see at KATL.  Surely Asobo did not manually create all of those airports.

Of course equally non-practical is having Asobo manually fix hundreds or maybe even thousands of airports.

I think the only feasible way to fix is via the community just like is done in other sims.  I haven't tried ADE for MSFS, I assume it gives this basic functionality?
