November 20, 20214 yr Great video, I wonder if Asobo ever tried out their own sim with DX12? Like I don't think they actually play the game ever..
November 20, 20214 yr wow 1/2 the FPS + stutters but the colors sure do look better in DX12.... SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

The lighting is slightly different in each video because the weather is slightly different between the two tests. There are no graphical differences. DX12 in itself does not generate graphical differences unless implemented by the developers (such as Ray Tracing). Asobo have not yet made any such graphical changes.

The day they take the time to play the sim, MSFS will improve by leaps and bounds. They dont, they tweak. November 20, 20214 yr If Asobo were to fly MSFS 2020 they would learn that TrackIR is no longer working in their "Game of the Year" 🤣

On a 4-hrs flight in the fbw A32NX last night I only had to hit the On/Off key twice. I can certainly live with that until we get a hotfix. 2Low2Slow

DX12 does not bring any change to graphics quality in its state, it's a total no brainer... there is no reason to enable it now. 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

They literally delivered this build with the mouse not working in the world map 😂 Also for the weather, a 10 minute flight would have been enough to realize the abrupt changes and all the clouds touching ground! I think they barely loaded the game into the menu before saying to themselves "good job, it works, let's release it" 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
November 20, 20214 yr As the publisher and Brand / IP owner I would imagine the blame should also be shared by msn, nope? If Asobo did go "good job, it works, let's release it" then I fault msn for not replying " are you kidding me?.."

In their defence (for once..) they did clearly state in the Q&A that the DX12 implementation at the start is very basic so not to expect too much, so if you/others were expecting a golden change then you're not gonna get it until they carry on improving this component of the code. But I totally agree with everything else above, the absolute fiasco with the Mouse in VR not working is testament to their ignorance at wanting to play their own game. November 20, 20214 yr Glad to see numbers, and thanks for posting. It's clear DX12 is not yet up to the task, but the colors seem to be way better than with DX11. November 20, 20214 yr Flight sims seem to probe the innards of desktop systems architecture in unique ways. Just to be fair here, there are some of us for whom the use of even this primitive application of DX12 improves performance. I have a four-year old W10 system with a GTX1080 GPU and standard HD display. DX12 reduces my GPU utilization on the HIGH-END graphics setting from 70-80% to 50%+-, with excellent smoothness. It's not enough to let me go from HIGH-END to ULTRA using the Rob Young G36TC on a routine basis, but I like the extra headroom for more complex scenery depictions. One thing to note is that I don't tweak my graphics settings, but rather just use the standard ones. There's no way that a developer can test all of the possible tweaks that avid simmers might use, so there are going to be way more untested cases out there than tested ones no matter how many beta participants they might have. I have to say that I am astounded by the performance of MSFS on my system which was often bogged down by XP and P3D, but I can also appreciate that those of us with state-of-the-art 4K graphics might have a different experience.
