Looks fine as well between KSFO and KSEA at FL380 right now (SAT -61).

Glad they're working in the background to fix what is possible to fix until the next update.  My sense is the next SU will be to SU7 about what SU6 was to SU5 😉

Live weather seems to be fine for me now...just did a quick flight from Manchester to Brussels and everything is working as it was. Fingers crossed hoping it doesn't mess up again..

On the bright side, you don't have to deal with the passenger asking for more blankets and if the captain can raise cabin temperature and all that stuff ...

Bloody hell...it's back again....just did a flight from UUEE (Moscow) to LTAC (Istanbul) and started acting crazy at FL260..SAT is 239...i'll disable live weather...sigh

Yep, don't count on anything sticking for now.  The hotfix will hopefully come next week sometime, but even then I wouldn't hold my breath for anything right now things are in dynamic disarray for the time being.  Perhaps the hotfix which is to be approved by beta testers will tide us over until SU8.  I do have high hopes for SU8.

Yeah I had high hopes, too. For SU3, SU4, etc. And I have high hopes for SU8 which is scheduled for the end of Februray 2022! I'm sensing a pattern here. Seriously, why is there no simple check for incoming data if it matches a set range and if not then filter it out or smooth it out? Something every beginning programmer has to learn and is easy to do! Remember the old days when FSUIPC came along to do the badly needed wind smoothing in....was it FS9 or before? I have seen crazy winds in excess of several hundred knots and temps lately in MSFS and it would be easy to filter and smooth out. "IF Venus temps THEN...." or "IF Uranus winds THEN...".

What do you think the potential reasons might be?  I've concluded they're ultimately so pleased w/ progress so far they are essentially resting on their laurels, which are significant.  Since SU7 released I've had pretty much about 85% good flights, and the rest aborted for a couple of different show-stopping reasons.  SU7 was by far the worst update for me--I always assumed SU5 would have issues.  SU6 was a breath of fresh air.  For me when comparing to the other sims (your FSUIPC reference for example) I have to put MSFS in the context of how long those other sims have been around which is really around 20y, and 20y goes a long way towards perfecting whatever it is they're trying to do.  Plus, I feel there isn't much more I can do beyond submitting zendesk tickets of which I have done maybe 8 so far for issues not obvious to the vocal masses.

I don't believe MS/Asobo considers the emotional reactions of MSFS users a whole lot, but I think part of that is driven by their own confidence they will get where they want to get on a time schedule that works for all aspects of this very big project.  This is why I tend towards patience and generally expect troubles along the way.  I am pleased they have announced 2022 goals include stability as a high priority.  That they are separating WU's and SU's is in line with this stated tact.  That they are putting the responsibility for the release of an upcoming hotfix also is a good precedent.  What none of us know is what happens in the back rooms vis a vis planning and grappling with the producer and the developer.  I think we can all agree it took a lot of $$ and talent to get MSFS to where it is today and I look forward to further development but will always expect some level of setbacks along the way.

Sure it would be easy to place a filter.  But this is really a very new issue (happened once before a long time ago now I believe) and clearly hasn't been a problem until some switches where hit in the background trying to fix the newly implemented METAR integration.  A 'filter' to me seems like a Band-Aid versus learning WHY this started happening just a couple days ago and fixing it at its source.  They'll get it solve likely very soon I'll bet my flight simming career on.

Maybe these updates are like the San Francisco Giants -- good every other year.   So the the even numbered updates are the good ones.

It was the other way around with DOS.

I still remember DOS 4 crippling all PCs where it was installed.

I remained faithful to my old DOS 3.3 🙂
