The way I do it is to climb to FL180 using real weather, then switch to a preset weather and continue my flight. When descending I do this in reverse order, i.e. switch to real weather below, say, FL200 Kind regards, Hans van WIjhe Acer Predator P03-640 2.10 Ghz Intel 12th Gen Core 17-12700F 64GB memory, Noctua NH-U9S Cooler, 1.02 TB SSD HD, 1.02 TB HD, NVidia Geforce RTX 3070 16GB Memory, Windows 11 (x64)

December 3, 20214 yr I am limiting my cruising alt to FL210 and don't have any problems. I'm flying the FBW now on a 3 hour flight and all is perfectly fine. I don't see a need to stop using MSFS.
December 3, 20214 yr Just ran into this issue this as well. I hadn‘t read about it before and for a moment thought it was me doing something wrong. Then I saw the temperatures. Oh well… This was probably my worst simming day ever. First, I was going to fly in VR, but when I entered VR the view wobbled around as if I‘d drunk a bottle of whisky. Rebooted and the the view was fine but then I struggled with the toolbar bug. Pressing CTR 0 worked but each time I pressed it (and I had to press it a lot) the view panned to the left. Before taxiing I gave up. I then thought I‘d have a look at the new replay tool. It actually worked fine but when I closed it I couldn‘t open the toolbar anymore (in pancake mode). That‘s when I decided to do an easy flight in 2d from Dublin to Bristol. What could possibly go wrong? Then the weather bug struck. What a day! I don't believe they are 'releasing the build' per se... they're flipping switches in the background to address other components of weather and the newly implemented METAR integration that were for obvious reasons not well received. This is very new for veteran flight simmers for sure to see changes coming from the background, but not surprising since it's possible to do, unlike in any other flight sim. In reality, it's hardly "unflyable". The first segment of morning's flight from KDEN to CYYZ, which I'm in right now, has been excellent in terms of ground haze which seemed perfect, matches KDEN METAR very well, and was as usual 100% free of even a hint of stutter anywhere. The temp bug persists so for now I'm just staying at FL250,and the 787-10 HD still flies as it always does. I hope they get to addressing the temp bug before the weekend, but if they don't as I say it's hardly unflyable as long as you stay under FL260 or switch to presets. I do not believe this is about weather data. I believe it is a core issue in the sim. If that is indeed the case then the weather source would likely not matter. And there is something that is variable about it. Yesterday I had a 3 1/2 hour flight from Indiana to Florida at 9,000 in the Turbo Bonanza and it was the most accurate flight weather I have had since the SU. But at times I had short periods of unrealistic winds aloft, some abrupt winds/pressure changes, and changes in the density of haze not supported by metars. I was using MSFS live weather at times and REX WF at other times. The variances I refer to all occurred well into periods where I was using one source or the other, and that was evidenced by when pressure and winds changed. Thus I am not speaking of transitions that occurred when changing sources. And in all cases MSFS live weather was giving me considerably higher winds than REX WF. Based on depictions from my Fltplan.Go iPad app, the real world winds were somewhere between MSFS live and REX WF. Mid 60's compared to low 50's in REX WF and high 70's to low 80's from MSFS live. Wind directions were generally representative. It certainly affects enroute times and fuel burn, an issue I did not have in FSX SE with AS16, or prior to that with FSGRW. December 3, 20214 yr Just saw a "Low airspeed warning" on the 787 while departing EGKK, climbing to FL 370. Was stuck at FL240 with an outside temp of 263 degrees over Dover. My word the weather has got better there since I emigrated to Canada 14 years ago 😜 Weather presets it is then for the time being, it certainly will not stop me from enjoying the sim.
