Weather over 24,000

Just saw a "Low airspeed warning" on the 787 while departing EGKK, climbing to FL 370. Was stuck at FL240 with an outside temp of 263 degrees over Dover. My word the weather has got better there since I emigrated to Canada 14 years ago 😜

Weather presets it is then for the time being, it certainly will not stop me from enjoying the sim.

Happy Friday All

Have you picked up the Canadian accent yet?  Takes a little doing to get it down 100%

I've been taking this opportunity to do some low and slow flying.  Well, some low and fast (MB 339) but anyway, under 24,000 feet or so.

Those crazy temperatures may (and this is just a speculation) have some significance. At 25-30,000 feet, the ISA temperature is -45 to -50 C, which corresponds to an absolute temperature of 223-228 K. One would, of course, use temperatures in Kelvin when doing physics based calculations like the barometric equation:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barometric_formula

I wonder if a missing conversion has somehow gotten into the atmospheric model as part of one of the ongoing "tweaks" to the system. Just a guess, in any case.

I didn't think so but I went back home in 2019 and happened to mention the Canadian version of "Garage" in a conversation and my sister nearly choked on her drink laughing !

I may jump back in the TBM later, haven't had her out of the hanger for a little while. I am thinking a few hops around the Scottish Highlands tonight 😀

This is unbelievable and totally  unacceptable that this kind of thing can happen. And get passed through their "quality control". And now for the second time. It can easily be that we must live with this bug long until next week. I love this sim but this developer.. Imagine if this would be your car.. Everytime you walk to your car, you wonder what's broken this time...??

This is a game "not reality" time to deal with it or move on. When people realise that this software may never be perfetct to the real world the better they can use and accept that.

Yeah, I stopped buying Ford trucks years ago because of this 🙂

One of the most ridiculous comments I’ve read here in a while. Well done.

Ok seriously? No body knows obviously. You can assume that on the next patch we will have some news/fixes

After it rains in hell followed by a snowstorm:-)

LOL, couldn’t resist.
At least(really digging on this) they’ve acknowledged the issue and will try and fix it

We’ll see   🙂

I am limiting my cruising alt to FL210 and don't have any problems. I'm flying the FBW now on a 3 hour flight and all is perfectly fine. I don't see a need to stop using MSFS.

Three hours in a Airbus 320 @ FL210? Talk about realism.

Part of the fun is to reproduce real operations: they are quite effectively trying to destroy a potentially wonderful sim.

Same here with my car. Changed brand and never looked back.

Imagine the jetstream is carrying a lot of volcanic ash and flights are restricted to <FL230 for safety reasons...explore the world in a biplane...find a way not over but through the alps within the limits of a regularly aspirated piston engine...try a freeware glider.... lemons -> lemonade.  Without that skill FS is currently just frustrating and becomes "unplayable" indeed.

The OAT bug is fixed now. Go ahead and try it.

Well let's see it's been what, 48h since you had to fly at FL210?  Actually, you didn't have to fly at FL210 that was solely your choice.  You could have gone to presets for the time being. Part of the fun can be doing things other than you normally do, if you can flex with reality.

There is no creative adaptation amongst the chronically perturbed here.  Good for you this also has nudged me out of the 787-10 HD which I've been glued to for months so it's nice to fly shorter local flights once again in the TBM again and some lower altitude flights in the Citation L both of which I used extensively in the past.   Thankfully MSFS is still 98+% fully functional, at least for those not using VR/TrackIR I believe, though the creative have apparently found some workarounds.

Unfortunately, I only have about an hour a day, sometimes less, so I would really love to relax with a working sim, and not have to worry for some "wth moment" always ready to happen. I like to fly low and slow, but if I have maybe 1.5 hours to spare, I prepare a short flight on the FBW, and 40 minute later I find out that it doesn't work for some reason, it's game over for me. It makes you wonder if it is worth the effort in the first place.

Flexing with reality is what I do all day in my job, I am told I am pretty good at that, and I am well paid accordingly. When I come home, I'd like to have some fun.

Cheers

A.
