Uk2000 Scenery to focus on MSFS products

We have had a lot of users asking lately about development of sceneries for P3D. So we will get straight to the point, there will be no more P3D products, *until* a new major update is released by LM with a better graphics engine.

The main points for our decsion are:

1) There is not enough profit in P3D products compared to MSFS. MSFS sceneries can be developed faster, with more features, meaning we can release more sceneries than previously with P3D. Plus with MSFS having a Marketplace, there is from sales there as well, from customers on different gaming platforms. So our sceneries have a further reach with MSFS.

2) As an artist the current P3D engine is horrible, with a bad SDK, no in game tools and full of legacy FSX bugs, it's miles behind MSFS. Meaning it is not fun to develop for and continues to cause bug related issues for us during and even after release, as the simulator reacts different on other users computers.

3) 80% of our support for P3D has nothing to do with our scenery itself, it is either their sim, SODE or it is a GSX issue. We don't get any of those issues with MSFS. Yes MSFS has its issues, but it doesn't result in users thinking it's a issue with our products.

In summary, yes P3D development has stopped, BUT we will continue development once LM has released an update to the graphics engine, allowing for scenery development with less bugs and issues.

We know this isn't the news most people want to hear, but please remember we are a business and we need to put the business needs first. Also, please feel free to unfollow or leave a comment saying you disagree, the choice is entirely up to you, but please remember to keep your comments PG and not get abusive towards us please, we are people too. 1f642.png

Not surprising given the expanding userbase for MSFS. But there are interesting insights into the stability of the SDK (from a scenery perspective at least).

and it seems uk2000 scenerys are getting better as there jersey is nice compared to there first few releases and there upcoming cardiff what comes out on the 27th is looking stunning, nice to see them back in the game,

Hoping they up their game though. They have some decent sceneries and pick some otherwise neglected airports but there is a huge difference in quality between UK2000 and Pyreegue when it comes to Glasgow for example.

Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

Unfortunately I have both now. I was a big supporter of UK2000 in the past over various platforms so I took a chance on their Glasgow offering. Not impressed so I upgraded to Pyreegue. Night and day.

I like Gary's honesty and he's been a massive part of the flight sim community for as long as I can remember

The quality has varied in the past and he's acknowledged that at times, looking forward to their future output 👍

+1

I have been a UK2000 customer for many years in FSX and P3D, but I bought their MSFS Bristol based on passed experience with their products and was not impressed with the quality compared to many of the freeware airfields available.  I think with the many quality freeware products available for MSFS, UK2000 really needs to look at their development standards based on the MSFS simulation and not rely on their past name within the FSX/P3D UK community .

After all the (somewhat deserved) bashing of the MSFS SDK, it was interesting to see that the grass is not greener on the other side.

You have to appreciate his candor.  It is refreshing...

Their Cardiff is looking really good.

I've got their Bristol and Inverness. Neither are what I would term premier league, though they're obviously still a million miles better than standard, so maybe they'll return to them for a spruce up if standards are being upped in future.

An odd statement considering all the airports they have produced for MS2020 are simply ports from their P3D products and are lacklustre and overpriced.

Good to see them bringing the products over. Nice to see some interesting UK airports that are often forgotten.

Interesting to hear that perspective on the SDK. Most positive take on the MSFS SDK so far, I'd say.
