Excellent find!  Even with my m2 drives it seems to take forever to get to the menu screen so I will give this a go.

It's a shame there isn't a setting in a config file somewhere so we can turn off the online setting before we start up for the first time.

I think everytime you start the sim, it scans the whole community folder, you can see that if you open the dev console while the sim is loading.

I already have a pre-run checklist including Addon Linker settings, checking that darn TrimWheel is working properly (it does in ~75% of the cases), external programs are started, VR goggles are connected (require a reboot in ~90 % of the cases) and so on.

Now I'll have to add a post-run checklist. Still would be a relief over the endless waiting.

Pretty good idea and very necessary indeed, i'll make a placard on my flight/driving chassis in the future. Thank you for that inspiration!

Even with an empty community folder my startup time (from when I double click the icon with Steam already open) is 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

Using this trick it's 1 minutes and 10 seconds!

Nothing... no pause. I can start a flight normally and it takes the same time it takes if data were on.

Thank you. Do I understand you correctly that you set those options back to ON after you started a flight? Or don't you set none of these settings to ON again? (Sorry for being so word not allowed 🙂 )

Yes, set it on again when the game loads and off before quitting.

This advice has come up before and I believe was discredited at that time.  I just now personally performed this test with the results below based on my PC;

NORMAL

• 2:30 min.  from starting the msfs.exe to to main flight selection menu screen
• 1:00 min. from selecting airport starting gate to in cockpit with FLY button displayed
• 3:30 min. total time

then ...

• 1:00 min. from selecting DATA OFF as suggested above to CONTINUE for test restart below

MODIFIED PER THIS THREAD

• 2:00 min.  from starting the msfs.exe to to main flight selection menu screen
• 1:15 min. from selecting airport starting gate to in cockpit with FLY button displayed
• 1:00 min. from selecting DATA ON for game play to CONTINUE
• 4:14 min. total time

Personal Conclusion:

• This suggested modification is useless at best and actually adds to the overall loading time and thus I will not be utilizing it.
