May 16, 200719 yr Well..My Dual Core went from 55% utilization to 75-100% range.Don't know FPS wise how much it has increased. I am able to turn everything to the right and keep the bloom and get 19FPS in Hawaii (Megascenery). There is a bit of jerkeyness/sudden pause.. This could be bercause of various settings that I had initially. I need to reset all those and try again. Not sure.what the benefit of limiting the FPS is going to be now. I set it to unlimited and got the usual FPS increase but I did not have blurries by doing that. Previously I used to have blurries with setting to unlimited. So foir now, its going to remain at unlimited.I am guessing Quad core would definitly benefit with this. Looking forward to some feedback for Quad PCsMAnny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

May 16, 200719 yr Im very UNSATISFIED... Just installed the Service Pack 1 for FSX, I am getting about 12 frames, it's really poor. My System: Intel Core2 Quad QX6800 Extreme 2,93 8Mb Cache L2 ASUS STIKER EXTREME (BIOS 1102v) 4Gb DDR2 Corsair 800 Mhz XFX 8800 GTX (two connected via SLI) -Latest NVIDIA FORCEWARE- TAGAN 1.100W 750 Gb SEAGATE HDD 7200 RPM 16 Mb cache CREATIVE Sound Blaster XFI Extreme Gamer Professional Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bits Boxed Where are the 20% more? My copy of FSX to the bin, long life to the FS2004.
May 16, 200719 yr I just installed SP1 and... I'm underwhelmed. With the exact same settings that I used to fly with smooth FPS I now have almost constant stutters, probably the "jerkiness" that others are reporting. The graphics look a bit cleaner, but the stutters :-(I thought SP1 was going to IMPROVE performance.BTW Hardware = E6600 2GByte RAM SATA 320HDD NVidia 8800GTSI wonder when SP2 will be ready.
May 16, 200719 yr Commercial Member Hi Scott,Defrag the hardisk it will help on this.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
May 16, 200719 yr Microsoft really are a joke. Have downloaded SP1 defragged before and after, performance is worse than before. I used to get smooth performance with sparse or no autogen and now its very unsmooth ( makes me airsick!!!!). Busy airports/cities out of the question (i.e.New York). Surely somethings not right here. My computers not bleeding edge, but hey, its pretty good.Pentium D dual core D945 @3.7ghz.Sparkle Calibre 7900 gs 512mb.2gb ram.windows xp sp2.P.S. May 16, 200719 yr Commercial Member You guys who are getting bad performance - try reinstalling the sim from scratch. Uninstall, manually delete the FSX folder, then install FSX clean, run it to create the relevant CFGs etc, then install SP1. There's no way those numbers can be right, I have less CPU than you guys do and I see a huge boost, even when running our 747 alpha. May 16, 200719 yr You may want to check out Phil's post on the blog for some tips on installing the sp. A clean fsx.cfg may help or even a clean install along with a disk defrag. I'm seeing very good performance increases across the board on a c2d 6600 and 7900gs.You may want to turn down some settings as well if you're running full to the right on everything.Ian.
May 16, 200719 yr It's 07:20am... + big deception, Im so tired, thanks for your recomendation mate, but It's boring and hard uninstall it and reinstall knowing isn't
May 16, 200719 yr I am seeing quite an improvement, and I left everything the way it was with my add-ons / texture mods and former FSX tweaks, and installed SP1 right over everything after backing up. I have a single-core mid-range system. I also can't wait to try some of the new tweaks Phil has mentioned on his blog. -Scotty
