Internet Disconnection Issues in high load scenery areas

Featured Replies

Since SU5 we've been having 'Disconnection' issue reported in the sim no matter what kind of connection we have.  I've notice now with VR it's worse.  If there's a load on the sim with add-on scenery for a particular area of major weather the sim throws a disconnection notification restricting your ability to control the aircraft until you acknowledge the notification.  Sparse areas in the sim aren't affected.  I have a dedicated line to my router via a network cable and it's solid as a rock concerning upload/download speeds.  It's a problem on the Azure side for sure.  It's frustrating to be on short final or flair for that matter and get this error.  Prior to SU5 this wasn't an issue.  Just wondering are other seeing this at times when there's a scenery load on the sim (KSAN with LatinVFR KSAN and Miramar for example).

Interesting topic, I was flying from MIA to Punta Cana last night, over oceans and Islands, and I was having those same messages about loss of connection when I never lost internet connection.  I was also using the CRJ, no modified sceneries.

Never seen these messages on both MSFS pc’s.

Could it be that it is region dependent ?

it could be server specific, only lost once the connection, many moons ago.

i am on european server, i also never had zero weather like some others have reported.

my ping is 20 ms , which is very good.

I'm getting variations on this almost every night now. Sometimes it says I'll lose live traffic and multi-player, other times it says something about too-slow-connection, etc. Up to a month or so ago I don't think I had seen these problems more that a few times since install, but now, frequently, multiple times in the same session.

Very annoying!  I have a fast connection all of the time, 200+.Flying on final to KATL and I get the message, have to acknowledge the message and poof, the airport disappears.  It's the default airport.  I have flown over rural areas in the US in clear weather and have gotten the message.  I'm surprised more people are not complaining and more so that ASOBO is not addressing it.

I just lost Azure ATC at Moscow.

I was going to post this last night. It's an issue for me since WU last month. The performance dropped dramatically, especially towards the end of the flight. I wondered if it was me, or if this is some kind of server side issue.

@Dillon Are you also getting audio distortions and FPS drop on final or when at the destination gate?

One of the biggest complaints on game pass users is Azure Cloud dropping connection on Multi-player and has been for some time on redit, so it may not be your IP but an MS problem.

No audio distortions just a switch to generic ATC voices (which actually has more variety than the default).  There is an FPS drop but that's usually add-on scenery which struggles at times under VR. It's not a slideshow but rather a degradation from the norm until it figures itself out and loads in the scenery.

I have a fast 250+ connection as well and this is routinely happening to me and happening is areas that are not high density scenery areas like my experience today (see below).  It seems to me to be happening on longer flights when I am perhaps more than two hours into the flight.

Anyone suspect that Microsoft might be doing some metering.  Selectively metering individual connections like cell phone companies do during a subscriber's period of high data consumption?  Metering based on length of connection and/or the accumulated size of the  user's flight data stream.

My ISP is a 120Mb connection and most of the time it is fine, but sometimes there is a lot of latency and sometimes Spectrum (my provider) has DNS problems. I can tell because other computers on my network become slow at loading pages and get stuck and I need to get a new IP address for the comport from the Cable modem.

When this happens of course FS2020 has a problem s well and I get that message.

I also believe sometimes it is a routing problem on the WWW and sometimes it is a problem with the servers for FS2020.

I just had my Modem replaced by Spectrum and I have had no problems since then about 2 weeks ago.

A few years ago they replaced the cable to my house and that cleared up problems like this back then as well.

I am just making the point that the connections to the web and routing or other hardware issues exist as well as MS/ASOBO problems.

Don't you love it when you are at the checkout counter and the supermarket can't check you out even with cash payment because their network went down. I have had that happen quite a few times as well.

It is not a perfect world...

Yep. I turned off Azure ATC completely as I am one of many affected by the bug of losing ATC all together when this is on and quite frankly I got used to the generic Windows voices and like you said, there is more variety.

I guess the performance degradation which is new for me since the recent WU is different than the intent of the original post, but I got two notifications in the last two days of the low bandwidth and going offline, which is also unusual as I've put a solid 100+ hours of flight time between mid-December and WU7 and did not have these issues.
