Here are two examples of what a Twin Otter sounds like in real life - there are clear and definite pitch changes all throughout the throttle range

Au contraire. In the fhe first video he makes two small adjustments to power at around 1:50 and 2:19 with no noticeable change of engine note pitch. In the second video, same deal at 4:11. Yes, there are gross changes of pitch with power elsewhere but these are all likely below the governed range of the props. And as I said, the Aerosoft Twin Otter also behaves broadly like this.

Tonite, at 1am when I have good internet, I'll take the Twotter out from Catalina Island for the first time.

Fun!

The plane is saved by the mod on flightsim.to.

I've heard this from several people and consider CCM as knowledgeable.

Ive wanted to get the Twotter but was put off by initial reports, so on hearing that CCM had modded it I was all ready to give it a go...BUT its now apparent that Aerosoft threw its toys out the pram and got the mod taken down.

Question I have is: assuming many people downloaded it before this action and a copy could be obtained would it still work on the aerosoft Twotter or have they done something to it to stop mods being applied?

No, it still works.

Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

.....and just for balance there are some folks that are happy with it.

Personally, I'm not flying it anymore. I followed the thread on the official forum and to be honest the bad mannered and abusive comments from some of the the forumites put me right off the mod.

Anyone hear anything about the promised sound upgrade ?

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung  NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

I can only speak for myself and my preferences,  but I'm using reference headphones and an audiophile dac/amp combo.   I love the way the Twotter sounds.

One caveat though,   I use FTsim+ sounds.    https://www.ftsimplus.com/msfs2020.html

They create all their sound packs using WWISE and high quality source recordings.

To gain access to the full versions of his soundpacks you must join his patreon.  $5 for a month gives you full access,  support, and requests.   You can cancel after the first month.

The Twotter pack has a free demo that only includes the engines,  and at a lower bitrate.   https://www.ftsimplus.com/msfs-dhc-6-twin-otter.html

Never tried the demo,  but I love the full version.    FTsim is also releasing a sound pack to replace all the engine sounds in the AIG mod.

So to get decent sound , you have to spend $5 a month. Thanks, but no thanks. I guess it is way too much expect the developer to fix the sound.

No. You can spend $5,  download everything, and then cancel after your month expires.   I believe that's a fair business model.

I believe there is a $2 level as well.

I think the sound package is complete.

Not sure what they are waiting for. This plane has been gathering dust in my hangar for 2 months now and I wont be starting it up again until those God awful engine sounds are fixed.

My guess is once you paid for it, any problems with it are yours to keep. Seems to be a habit with some of the MSFS developers. They are even told of a bug or bugs, pretty quickly and yet months drag on with no fixes. Caveat Emptor.

So how come the FTsim payware sound pack is tolerated by Aerosoft whilst the freeware one was not?
