AccuSeason Too much snow at Airports?

Featured Replies

Is there anyway to reduce the snow on runways / taxiways when using AccuSeason? Right now when I try to fly out of airports in the mid-west, I can't even see the runways and taxiways; I just have to "split the difference" between lights.

Thanks,

Dave

I do not have that problem, but I use it with Zinertec Enhanced Airport Graphics.

I believe this is a resident MSFS issue.

AccuSeason has nothing to do with the amount of snow, this is a resident MSFS issue.

Honestly if they'd just plow the roads and airports, the winter depiction would be nearly spot on with real life. As with most of MSFS, with a bit more refinement it'd be amazing.

I don't see that either and I use Zinertek Airport Graphics

This is a flaw in MSFS’ native snow depiction system. If a runway or road has a dark texture it will be clear of snow. Otherwise it is covered.

Yep.  It sort of ruins flying in the winter.  Clear the major roads and all movement areas at airports.  The only time both are not clear is right after a huge snowstorm.  Even the small airports get their runways and taxiways cleared within a day or two of a major storm.

Don't want to make a big deal out of this but have been flying out of KDTW for 3 days waiting to see a clear runway.

I just flew to/over 3 airports around the MSP area and we had 8 inches of snow this Wednesday, followed by 4 inches on Friday.  I flew Saturday morning and even the uncontrolled fields were clear.

The whole point is that - irl I'm not going to land if the runway is heavily contaminated with snow.  In the sim it's darn near impossible to see lighter colored runways/surfaces (it has nothing to do with snow depth... it's all about dark surfaces showing as clear or lighter surfaces showing as snow covered).  Either simulate snow falling and a covered runway....then simulate it being removed a day or so later.  Or just "clear" all the runways so people can still enjoy the sim.

Yup. I fly a lot in Scandinavia during winter and haven't seen a taxiway or runway in weeks. Basically taxiing and taking off blind with the help of svs and charts.

Luckily, my Kodiak 100 has big old tyres so I just plow over everything. Don't mind me!
