It may look a little "plasticky" visually, but when I saw the other week that Sim Accoustics were doing the sounds I was more than excited for this bird!!

I have just noticed this on their info page:

Q - The textures are low-res on the AFCS and some areas of the cockpit.

A - These will be improved in a future update, now that the airplane is functional. We often like to improve our airplanes over time.

So that's encouraging 🙂

I am no tube fan but I have bought this - because I have actually flown in it a few times - and loved every minute of it

My company actually designed the fire protection in those huge engines

It's not the resolution really, the panels sit on a 4K texture sheet. It's more the material I chose - Concorde was old and I liked the worn style of the material, for which I then darkened the AFCS panel slightly. Enough folks have said they don't like it for me to change it though, easy enough to do. As others have mentioned, Concorde was oddly "flat-looking" for such a busy cockpit and the colours are fairly dull, probably due to it being a product of 60's technology. You can even see the paint strokes on many surfaces and instrument bezels, something I tried to recreate for this Concorde product.

Concorde, like all my airplanes, will now be gradually refined to match what the majority customer base want as feedback comes in. However, anybody who says things like "it's FS9 / FSX quality" or other such gibberish just get ignored  🙂

I'm watching those german preview videos and I have to say the textures look a lot better when sunlights falls upon them or when there is more brightness generally. So brightening it all up could be a good idea. And removing the used look from the glareshield at least.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

If any of you would like to fly EGLL-KJFK and test the flight modelling try this. No need to fly the whole route.

27L departure using the CPT SID. Reheats on for takeoff and cancelled after 1m 15s. Climb out initially at 250kts then once above 6,000ft accelerate to  395kts for FL280.

Remain there until the accel point south of Cardiff. Autothrottles off, reheats on, full throttle and pitch up to maintain a speed just below Vmo. Engage MAX CLB / MAX CRS.

Reheats Off at Mach 1.7. That should take between 6-8 minutes by which time you should be at FL430.

Thereafter the climb rate will reduce significantly. You should hit Mach 2 at FL500.

If all that checks out you have a nice aircraft. The visuals can be adjusted. What really matters is the flight model.

Excuse my ignorance but what are INS?

A proper navigation system. Not like these new poncy GPS ones. 😁

Each Concorde had three for accuracy. When they were testing the sensitivity no one was allowed to board the aircraft as they could affect the instruments. I imagine that was improved on in later years.

Just joking about GPS. It’s pretty accurate. 😁

INS had drift problems and high cost of maintenance.

Hey Everyone!

I was going to post wether or not I will be purchasing this too, but then came to the shocking realization that few if any of you could give a rat's patooty about my spending decisions.  If I'm wrong and you've been holding your breath to find out just say so. Otherwise others are welcome to follow my lead and maybe we can set a new trend 'round here.

Regardless, happy to see this being released because like it or not, it represents another small yet important milestone for the sim's reach and potential.  Happy landings!

I personally never had any interest in flying the Concord, especially with MSFS 2020. Too much good scenery to miss at high altitudes.

Back in the 1970s it was state of the art much like everything else on Concorde. Like carbon fibre brakes and Fly-by-wire technology. Not to mention the ramps that slowed the air entering the engines from supersonic speed to subsonic speed in 11 feet. 😉

And 8 track tape players....😉

With the news of improved textures coming down the pike later, I think I'll wait for that. Maybe I've been spoiled lately with the incredible textures offered in other planes? Either way, looks like a fun plane to learn and I look forward to seeing them update this plane in the future.

I’m not sure what your point is Bob. Despite all the advances in aviation there has been no equal to Concorde and if it ever goes into production the Boom aircraft will be slower with fewer passengers..

It will work manually for sure, no doubt about that. We've done most of these sorts of things in testing, and the flight model matches the real airplanes thrust and drag curves across the entire flight envelope. Not sure about MSFS's high altitude temps though. ISA conditions allow for a 2 degree drop in temp every 1,000ft until FL 360, where it's supposed to stay at -57 degrees, which I think is where MSFS is getting its info from. It does make life easier for Concorde, but of course reduces realism a bit.
