It's a lot nicer than the Carenado in my opinion.  They just use stock Asobo everything.  It takes time to make a custom AP and support three sets of avionics with two separate autopilots.  Also the 414 looks a lot nicer that the Carenados - texture wise.

I'll gladly say so as well.

Is there any kind of point you're tryin' to make here, or are you just getting some (potentially inebriated) end-of-week trolling kicks in?  Not being judgemental, just idly curious while we're out here in the weeds seemingly way off topic.

I agree with him.  The C414 is shaping up to be a very good addon.

no question about it, I just don't agree with "the 414 looks a lot nicer than the Carenados - texture wise."

Looks at the Carenado's up close - specifically the cockpit.  They are actually using some of the same old files from P3D in the Mooney/Seneca hehe.  They just upscale their resolution - still lower than the C414.  Additionally, the exterior is so overly glossy as per the "Carenado norm."  Real planes don't look like that unless they're up for sale or perhaps being on display at Oshkosh (and then in that case they still don't look as glossy).  Don't get me wrong, Carenado has had some of the nicest looking models/textures...but that's changing in MSFS.

mine always did (always kept in hangar), washed and waxed, I don't like and never will like the ugly dirt texture of the C414 - it is not a rental or typical flight school aircraft. Even RebuildRescue hired a big crew to clean up that old C 401 before his first flight. I don't see what personal preference has to do with trolling Mr.Stoopy. 😀

IDK the plane my buddy owns is is great condition but it doesn't look as glossy as the Carenado sim planes do - they're over the top - especially in backlit or indirect lighting...it appears as though a layer of glass is on top of the paint.  I will agree the default wear and appearance of the FSW planes isn't great - however their texture res is better than Carenado still.  If you go to flightsim.to you'll see @Steve Drahas made us lovely white comp textures to place over the top.  There's also some guy making a more polished version of the default liveries using Steve's textures.  It will better represent your real world aircraft - check them out!

as I said, a matter of personal taste. here an example of a 40 year old Cessna 340, as real glossy as it gets:

And now back to the not so glossy C414.

The FSW C414 is textured by 3DReach, and doesn't 3DReach /also/ texture Carenado planes?

Also, Steve Drabek has painted a "clean" FSW C414 for repainters to use.

Those look great - but nothing as crazy as Carenado's over glossed textures hehe!  Maybe we're just looking at different angles with sun and shade etc.

I'm mainly talking about the quality and resolution of the Carenado textures vs FSW's.  FSW wins easily.  As for cleanliness of the plane - yes hehe....Carenado wins there.

it is a very personal thing, but if I were to spend 1/2 million $ on a vintage aircraft, it better be pretty, not a rust bucket. FSW should offer the customer a choice and add a "not so crazy glossy" version too.

You don't like your C414 looking like the 401 on Rebuild Rescue LOL?  Two of the four default textures now on flightsim.to will do what you need though.  I made N140J with Steve's files as well.
