I'd love to see WX radar in the sim. However, I have never seen a simmer who would deviate, offset, or go to alternate  due adverse weather painted on WX radar LOL Most of us like "oh look red spot we just go through that stuff" LOL

I tend to go through it just to have a bit of fun in Turbulence 😂. Severe turbulence was never “uncomfortable” in sims…Hope to see the turbulence effects with wind and clouds improved so we can actually feel the danger in them. Might give us a reason to deviate ha!

I can't blame you because sim is the safe place experience it all ! LOL In fact I found more fun to fly in adverse weather in then sim (unlike RL )!

Speaking of the MSFS WX radar, in default aircraft, does it allow you to adjust the tilt? Can it *see* past obstacles and mountains? I never really got a chance to play around with it. Curious how "far" the simulation goes in this regard.

I've wondered this too.  The only radar display I've ever seen in MSFS is the nexrad datalink display, which doesn't have any of the limitations of airborne radar (as it shouldn't).  But is there any (non-WASM) aircraft in the sim right now that actually simulates *airborne* weather radar?

WX radar is available in the default A320.  I still don't know why this can not be utilized while the SDK is still developing.  Yeah, I get it that it may not be 'real world' but would be more than adequate as a place holder.  This statement goes for the FBW add on also.

In my case, also in the default B747 and the Carenado Seneca

As far as default planes: CJ4, most (all?) of the airliners, TBM, Longitude, Caravan, I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

Don't know if you fly in real life, but should read this article,One serious issue is image latency. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2016/july/pilot/weather-watch

We still haven't seen anything display weather on the PMDG 737, yet. I don't know what you're talking about when you say the current gauge is not really looking like the real thing.

Just have a look on youtube for videos showing airliners weather radar and compare to what FS20 currently displays, and its maybe because they simulate nexrad in FS I dont know, but all I am saying is that the returns I get on the weather radar I use at work looks nothing like what FS20 shows at the moment. I used ActiveSky on P3D and their rendition of a weather radar looked closer to the real thing.

The newest dev update by Asobo seems to be sure to have the necessary API by SU 10, which would be in two months (?). So it will be soon, possibly coming right with the -600.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Yep I'm very familiar with using airborne weather radar in reality, that's why I was wondering if there's been any attempt to simulate it.  It's never been done even close to correctly in previous sims.

I might have to check out the CJ4 eventually, thanks.

So what happened? SU10 is released and still no weather radar, right?

I see a lot of people referencing the INOP sticker above the TERR button, I think you'll find this INOP sticker is actually for the ADF2 and not the TERR button.

EDIT: apologies it hasn't been mentioned in this post but I have seen it mentioned around the place

SU10 isn't coming until August. WU (World Update) 10 was just released.

prediction: once wx radar is available to wasm models with su10, the next point of outrage will be 'it doesn't look like activesky wxr on p3d!'  although the activesky wxr was nice, it depicted tstorm cells as pink cotton balls arranged in an neat array, which certainly did not look like real wxr returns.

what we now see in the default wx gauge is probably what we'll get for wasm gauge, and as long as the intensity of rain on windshield loosely matches the intensity shown in the gauge, that's the best one can ask for in a disk top sim.

Oh ok, guess I didn't notice there was a difference. Why not just merge it and call it SU10 I wonder.
