Asobo servers: w-h-a-t? ... FFS

Featured Replies

Their succes is haunting them. Their systems have issues at peak hours. Probably overloaded.

Hopefully they can solve this before it gets worse…..

Give it a week, everything will go back to normal. Takes a while for the millions to get their updates.. 😉😉

I get it whenever school is out, they probably allocate bandwidth in line with some load factor that is lower than needed (server bandwidth costs and they need to keep enough back to sell to others)

First of all, Asobo develop a game (sim??) that can only be used ONLINE.

Then they appear to be totally incapable of organising their server setup - especially in peak times (after an update).

My update went fine, but I've had SIX "lost connections" in six consecutive flights now - with the usual mess that entails.

Regardless of every other teak or fix that try to improve this pig's ear of a product, it's a waste of time if you can't even "fly" it.

Come on, Asobo - you've had our money - how's about delivering the product???

UPDATE: Make that NINE times now.
Also - every time this happens, my controller bindings go to custard. Why on earth can't they make these configs able to be stored locally?

the server infrastructure is maintained by Microsoft, not Asobo.

Servers are load balanced by load balancers, specific hardware that manages to throughput on the server. It's a not a guy with a dial turning the load up and down to save money.

Aaaah ... that explains it! LOL!

BUT .. I thought they had additional servers in different time zones <?>.

Obviously, but who do you think sets the parameters that decides the Load Priorities in the first place?

Server Location is irrelevant in practice

Edited by Pathfinder633

A number of us have been having this issue of disconnects, there’s another thread here and also one at the official forums where I’d suggest visiting and voting so hopefully this gets some attention.

I assume the aggravating tendency for ATC voices to stop in high AI situations is also related to server load somehow.

really, try downloading a file from a server based in Perth, WA when you're in London vs downloading a file from Oslo. If you don't know what you're talking about then best not to speak.

I do not think Asobo or MS are to blame. I rarely get a CTD wirh MSFS but also I rarely fly for more than 30 mins in this game anyway. But last year when I decided I wanted to join an online group training on flying the Wellington Bomber in IL2 Desert wings I found it was hopeless. 12 CTD's or more per session made the whole thing impossible.  I have a fast internet and spent good money on improving it to no avail. I do not understand the techical stuff but the strength of your  connection to your local server does not mean you can fly online well.

I said in Practice...in practice who would enact your dumb scenario?

I don't agree, I am in Western Africa, when I try to update I am getting 500Kb/s, and when using a VPN located in France, it goes up to 50-70Mb/s

The VPN thing is odd, many say its down to certain ISPs throttling, im not certain

You may be bypassing some local bottlenecks with a secure tunnel direct to the endpoint with a VPN depends on packet routing.

I've had this problem since SU5, its 50/50 if I get the message during a flight, it reconnects itself within 5 seconds but.....sick to death of it. Nothing else I do or test shows any drop from the internet. Just MSFS. /sigh
