Asobo servers: w-h-a-t? ... FFS

Not sure what your point about addon accessibility has to do with this?

It was meant to express that I think the restricted access to addons might limit the number of X-Box users w.r.t. PC (Store + Steam) users. Not sure if this is really an argument, though.

Anyway, I had such a disconnect the first time ever a couple of days ago.

Kind regards, Michael

@DeepestRed,

Thank you very much, nice to see some good substance here on Avsim (for a change).

We would all appreciate in the future that you don't quote the entire wall of text for a 1 sentence reply. Okay? Thanks.

First of all, as noted, it's not Asobo who manages "the servers", it's Microsoft.   So blaming Asobo for any shortcomings is unfair to start with.

Wups - that was my mistake (right at the beginning of this miserable thread 😞

However - many thanks for taking the time to post such an extensive explanantion!

Possibly the issue could be that MSFS is now available on the Microsoft Cloud Gaming platform and is a great success.

It`s gamers on Cloud Gaming not just MSFS all XBOX games can now have instant access with Game Pass, and most likely they will have priority They are paying for it after all. And it may be regional if you are in an area with loads of gamers using the Cloud. And with C.O.D having some millions active in game.

Thanks to Adamski for starting this topic and to DeepestRed for giving me the best explanation for things that I have never quite understood but suffered through. In my humble opinion for us Oceanic types seems to be that we are mostly a very long way from the servers we need and they are often overloaded when we want to use them. We can try getting up at the dawn of crack to have a nocturnal fly and see if that is any better or alternately stick to stand alone sims/games. Of course if we have bags of bucks we can always move to Seattle. 😃

Which goes back to my comment about Microsoft being incumbent on delivering the goods. We paid for the sim, too.   As @DeepestRed has so eloquently taught us, it's many times a function of provisioning, but if a company is attempting to increase sales by expanding their delivery platform(s) (like the recent MSFS release on Cloud), one would expect a corresponding increase in server availability - which undoubtedly has been very problematic for many. Maybe they need to increase the budget and take a little less profit, lol ?

Incidentally,  your wife in your avatar pic is looking quite pale - might want to get her to a doctor.  (Hopefully not the one who did her nose job......) 😁

Now when it disconnects briefly, all the scenery erases and turns blue. Even when it reconnects the scenery is still gone. This just started after yesterday's update. Before that, the scenery would remain even when if the server dropped briefly.

This ruined my flight yesterday after never having this issue before. Rolling cache was set to 8gb.

I haven't seen anyone with this issue, having a hard time believing I'm the only one?

You are not alone NofD - I'm having exactly the same issues - total nightmare, although sometimes the scenery will return, slowly, if I hang around long enough. Very depressing as it seemed pretty stable prior to this update (for me anyway).

I may well be barking up the wrong tree here but I would like some clarification...I am happily flying along with 3 small tablets acting as addon panels for the FSradio panel app. From time to time I get a sound identical to that which is made when a usb is unplugged. On the newly acquired Bae146 when that sound happens the engines go down but then restart when the "ding dong "sound goes again. This engine pause lasts only for a couple of seconds, Oh, also the FPS counter freezes. Would I be correct in assuming that this is the aforementioned "dropout".? It even happens whilst I am typing this.!Any light that can be shone on this matter would be appreciated.

I keep trying various things to work out what's going on. For me, it appears that if I have either Live Weather or REX Weather Force running, the additional data load seems to trigger disconnections (which I'm still getting frequently - a good few days now after the update, so server load ought to be getting back to normal <??>).

If I have neither of the above running, I seem to get by better .. but I used to run both with no problems before SU9.

If anyone asks why I need(ed) to run both, it was to have AIG traffic use the correct runway on startup. After going into the VC, I'd set the wweather to "Clear Skies" - as required by REX. *However* - I'm wondering whether the sim is still querying/downloading Live Weather data - even though it's not actually being used.

I still crease up when I hear Clouseau say "berrrrm" [bomb]!

As to these horrid disconnects ... I'm STILL getting them ... almost every 10 minutes.

I'm wondering whether it's because I'm in NZ and there are simply too many hops between my PC and the servers.

I'm 1700kms south of you, and no dis connects for a while now. I am with 2 degrees using a Fritzbox router.
