June 15, 20223 yr As I fly in Europe / Northern Africa only I have their PG cities installed and all others belonging to non EU WUs not installed. Is this still needed ? To be sure I only have WUs for Europe installed too. Would installing all of them have an impact on overall performance? June 15, 20223 yr I allways have PG off, ( don`t like that melted buildings ) and my performance together with the LOD`s short under 200 is great for me.. cheers 😉 Edited June 15, 20223 yr by pmplayer 08.2024 new PC is online : ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI Mainboard, AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D Prozessor, G.Skill DIMM 64 GB DDR5-6000 (2x 32 GB) Dual-Kit, MSI GeForce RTX 4090 VENTUS 3X E 24G OC Grafikkarte, 2x WD Black SN850X NVMe SSD 4 TB - Drive C+D, WD Gold Enterprise Class 12 TB for storage HDD, Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W PC - Power supply, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO CPU Aircooler with 7 Heatpipes, Design Meshify 2 White TG Clear Tint Tower-Case, 3x 4K monitors 2x32 Samsung 1x27 LG 3840x2160, Windows11 Prof. 23H2 - now Windows11 Prof. 25H2 Flightsimulator Hardware: Honeycomb Throttle Bravo, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, Logitech Flight Joke System, XBox Controller, some Thrustmaster stuff, Winwing CDU Panels.
June 15, 20223 yr The easiest way to find out would be to test with/without. Luckily there’s not that much data, so installing/uninstalling should be relatively quick. If there’s no performance degradation on the ground then there’s really no need for this “tweak”. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
June 15, 20223 yr Author Thanks guys. Thanks in advance, Gerard If you are only flying in Europe/North Africa, installing the PG cities shouldn't really affect performance. It seems to be an issue flying in North America.
June 15, 20223 yr There's not a huge improvement on my system in terms of performance, but there surely is an impact in terms of Internet traffic... I have disabled both Bing and PG and only intend to re-enable it when using MFS to simulate / analyse soaring flights over regions I fly IRL. Since I am now 100% in airliner virtual pilot mode, no need for either Bing or PG. June 15, 20223 yr The only area I deleted was Italy cause it was a mess, but since I had a back up, I restored it and I will test it today. I see no reason to delete any PGs if you are locked @30 and don't have stutters. My setting is also at ultra, but I still use a 1080P monitor. MSFS

Things look awful without it, even at high cruising levels. I only fly the Fenix so I am also a airline pilot. But well, indeed, to each his own... (PG is turned off though here: awful stuff.) June 15, 20223 yr Using Bing or the Google Maps mod is what makes this sim so amazing! I just can see myself ever disabling that feature. MSFS

Graphic settings at ultra, even in the Fenix itself, and things are wonderful. My tweaking days are done (since a long time already). Edited June 15, 20223 yr by tup61

It's perfect this way for the kind of use I give to flight simulators. Regarding the Fenix A320 I also disabled the pax cabin rendering and lights to save my CPU / GPU for much more important stuff. Just as I used to do with P3D I would as well disable the aircraft external 3d model, but I don't know how to properly do it in MFS. I would love to have an option to display the external model in raw, just surfaces with a single colour, no need for shadows or the like, just the lights, and being able to have control surface and gear animations. That would suit me perfectly as well as I would opt for 2d panels just as I did with fsx and p3d addons when they allowed for that, the FSLabs A319/20 being a good example.
