Anyone tried that to see if it has a positive efffect on performance? Hi Gerard, I have removed all of this sort of thing, primarily because I wanted to remove all the aircraft from the default list (I copied all the official aircraft folders into a separate set of folders I manage via the addons manager, then uninstalled the aircraft in the sim). I had to remove some of these challenges etc as they use some of the default aircraft and that meant the sim was reinstalling them at every startup, until I figured out what was going on. To be honest, I don't know if it's made a huge amount of difference, as my system is one of those being hit by problems since SU9, and I also just installed a new video card at the same time, so I don't have a reliable benchmark to go by. BUT . . . it does feel like it loads more quickly and is a bit more responsive. I did a similar thing with P3D back in the day - removed all aircraft from the simobjects folder and just copied in anything I wanted to use in that session and it made a huge difference to loading times back then. I didn't do any of this for performance reasons, I just don't like having extra stuff in my sim that I didn't deliberately choose, but I think it does give a tiny little bit of extra perfromance as well. And anyway, if you're never going to use the stuff you've really got nothing to lose trying it, cheers, Andy Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. I also uninstalled all mentioned features and, like Andy, I've got a feeling that loading time is a bit shorter. Not sure that it now is more responsive, it looks like it but this can be wishful thinking :). I see...ok...thanks. So yes, for me until they find the reason, I have to have all the 'PG' cities as deleted.

Can you please be so kind to inform me what files you are talking about and where they are located? Thanks a lot. Easy, you go to CONTENT Manager and then type in---> Photo, ...and to the right of that search window, make sure the line and bullet icon box is highlighted. Then, you will see all the files show up. Merely delete each of them, and you are good to go. When you want them back...(they never delist...only show as Installed, or Deleted, you search for Photo again, with the bullet box highlighted, and all the PG City files will show up, and then, you click on them once more to install. So this is not a 'fatal' deletion...never getting them back unless you fully reinstall. Nope...easy peasy... Edited June 16, 20223 yr by Sesquashtoo

That restores ground performance for me, anyway. Would I get even more performance back deleting the stuff in Content Manager? I was just flying in Newcastle. Had the UK PG cities installed and couldn't work out for the life of me why Newcastle no longer had PG 😄

You could but the point of this is to keep as much PG as possible without the few files that cause the Main Thread overload bug. If people are just after a general performance boost and dont want any PG then yes, just turn it off completely.
June 16, 20223 yr Where do you find the PG cities for the US? I only see packages for other countries around the world.

They are not the problem themselves, but something in the files for the other countries is. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

June 16, 20223 yr Almost positive I have the US World Update installed, but do not see an option to install or uninstall PG US cities. I will have to check that out. Thanks for the info.
