I used to love a game of Spot The Difference on those old Pub Gaming Machines!, this reminds me of that!

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

This is a little misleading.  The ORBX payware version (US$11.00 currently)  also includes improvements to the harbor and surrounding area.

Tom

Orbx has umbrellas over the picnic tables, making it the clear winner. Mods, go ahead and lock this thread.

Improvements to the harbor area or not, I'll take the free version thanks.

You have both installed at the same time in the second image. Was that intentional?

I certainly wouldn’t buy the orbx one at this point but since I already own it it’s good to know I’m not missing anything by not using the WU10 version.

Dave

Current System (Running at 4k): ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F, Ryzen 7800X3D, RTX 5090, 55" Samsung Q80T, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, EVGA CLC 280mm AIO Cooler, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & Stick, Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant & Add-on, VirtualFly Ruddo+, TQ6+ and Yoko+, GoFlight MCP-PRO and EFIS, Skalarki FCU and MCDU

Well it does include a lot more than just the airport. And with the mid-year sale it's only €10,34. But I think the enhanced WU10 version is pretty decent and I'm not buying the Orbx one.

Right.  I will never buy another scenery addon. I will instead sit tight and hope that Asobo add the airfield in an update eventually 😄

On a more serious note -

  • the Orbx one looks a mess because the Default Catalina is till enabled you are getting both scenery overlapping - you can see the Asobo Catalina tower superimposed over the Orbx one, and the near end in the Orbx photo is a mess as it is a combo of both sceneries
  • it is really a scenery pack not just the terminal building and runway
  • are the ILS/VNAV etc identical for both ? Which is more accurate? Often aftermarket ones are better (though sometimes worse)

The real tower for reference:

Lol Catalina has no ILS it’s a tiny GA airport on a cliff with a short runway. I think it has a VOR approach and that’s it afaik.

Fair enough , I mentioned it because it can often be the reason to buy an aftermarket airport.

The main point though is it is not a fair comparison as the Orbx shot has left the Asobo scenery enable so the scenery is a mess with a lot of it showing the Asobo terminal (as it is slightly bigger and hides the Orbx terminal)  the rest being a mishmash.

Aftermarket scenery will disable the autogen buildings but Asobo hand made airports need to be turned off manually when adding aftermarket scenery or you get a mess.

Well, on the upside I wasn’t the only one today to publish a confusing screenshot of this airport 😉

Yeah, I have no real opinion on whether the Orbx one is worth the $15.

I was just saying a screenshot that mainly shows the Asobo terminal and textures with a wee bit of the Orbx tower poking out is not a fair comparison.

Which version of the buildings is better, and how would you remove them?
